South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb has announced a temporary suspension of deposits and withdrawals for Monad (MON) starting at 10:00 a.m. UTC on July 23. The halt is scheduled to facilitate a network upgrade, according to an official notice from the exchange.

Details of the Suspension

The suspension will affect all MON transactions on Bithumb, including both deposits and withdrawals. The exchange stated that the measure is necessary to support a planned network upgrade for the Monad blockchain. Users are advised to complete any pending transactions before the cutoff time to avoid delays.

Bithumb has not yet specified the exact duration of the suspension, but such maintenance periods typically last several hours or until the upgrade is verified as stable. The exchange will notify users once normal services resume.

Why This Matters for MON Holders

Network upgrades are routine but critical events for blockchain projects, often introducing improvements in security, scalability, or functionality. For MON holders and traders, the temporary halt means that funds will be inaccessible for transfers during the window, which could affect trading strategies or time-sensitive movements.

Bithumb, one of South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, handles significant trading volume for many altcoins. A suspension on such a platform can temporarily reduce liquidity for MON and may influence short-term price action, though upgrades are generally viewed positively by the market if they enhance the network’s capabilities.

What Users Should Do

MON holders on Bithumb are encouraged to:

Complete any pending deposits or withdrawals before 10:00 a.m. UTC on July 23.

Avoid initiating new MON transactions during the suspension window.

Monitor Bithumb’s official announcements for updates on the resumption of services.

The exchange has not indicated any risk to user funds during the upgrade, and such events are typically managed without incident.

Broader Context

Monad is a relatively newer blockchain project focused on high-performance decentralized applications. Network upgrades are part of its development roadmap. Bithumb’s proactive communication aligns with standard exchange practices to maintain transparency and user trust.

This announcement follows a pattern of exchanges coordinating with blockchain teams to ensure smooth technical transitions. Users should always verify such notices directly through official exchange channels to avoid misinformation.

Conclusion

Bithumb’s temporary suspension of MON deposits and withdrawals on July 23 is a routine operational measure tied to a network upgrade. While it may cause minor inconvenience, it is a standard procedure aimed at maintaining the integrity and performance of the Monad blockchain. Users are advised to plan accordingly and stay updated through official communications.
