BetHog is closing its consumer-facing crypto casino and sportsbook as the company shifts its full attention to artificial intelligence software for online gaming operators. As reported by Forbes, founder Nigel Eccles revealed that the board approved the decision after determining the business could not effectively expand both its consumer platform and enterprise software division.
The move marks a major change for the company, which entered the crypto gambling market in late 2024. BetHog launched with $6 million in seed funding led by venture capital firm 6MV. The platform combined its own casino games with titles from established providers, including Pragmatic Play and Evolution.
However, company leadership concluded that maintaining both business models limited growth opportunities. Consequently, BetHog will wind down its gambling platform and dedicate its resources to Sentient Studios, its artificial intelligence software business.
Eccles explained that the company believes enterprise software offers a stronger long-term opportunity than operating a consumer gambling platform. Moreover, the transition allows the team to focus on developing technology for casino operators rather than competing directly for players.

Sentient Studios develops artificial intelligence-powered live dealer software for online casinos. The platform enables operators to launch virtual dealers across multiple games without building traditional live dealer studios. Additionally, the software supports different languages and branded environments. Operators can customize the experience while reducing the infrastructure required for conventional live casino operations.

Traditional live dealer services rely on dedicated studios, specialized equipment, and large operational teams. By contrast, Sentient Studios uses artificial intelligence to simplify deployment while lowering operating costs for casino companies. According to Eccles, the company intends to challenge established live dealer providers by offering a more scalable technology solution. Instead of competing through a consumer casino, BetHog will now position itself as a software provider serving the broader gaming industry.
The strategic shift also follows the recent spinout of Sentient Studios into a separate business unit. That restructuring helped management evaluate the long-term direction of both operations before choosing to focus on enterprise software. Besides reducing operational complexity, the decision allows the company to direct its funding and development efforts toward one business instead of dividing resources across two markets. As a result, BetHog expects to accelerate product development while expanding partnerships with casino operators seeking AI-powered gaming solutions.

Conclusion

BetHog’s decision reflects a broader strategic repositioning rather than an exit from the gaming sector. The company is replacing its consumer gambling business with an enterprise-focused model centered on AI dealer technology, aiming to compete with established providers through scalable software instead of traditional casino operations.
