During the recent X Space on AI, Privacy, and the Future of Finance, speakers kept returning to an uncomfortable reality. The exact transparency that makes public blockchains work has turned into a direct physical threat for users.
As on-chain analytics tools grew more sophisticated and AI entered the picture, spotting wealthy wallets became trivial. Bad actors can now track large holdings and map them to real-world identities with minimal effort. Naturally, a spike in physical attacks followed.
Security reports show that kidnappings, home invasions, and coercion aimed at crypto holders surged by 75% in 2025. Those 72 confirmed cases led to more than $41 million in losses. France emerged as a specific hotspot for these crimes, where attackers treat public on-chain data like an open intelligence dossier.
One speaker summarized the core issue perfectly. They noted that AI does not just speed up tracking, it completely removes the friction between spotting wealth on-chain and acting on it offline.
This is the stark reality of public blockchains in 2026.

When Your Wallet Becomes a Target

For years, the community trusted the mantra "not your keys, not your coins." However, self-custody on a transparent ledger carries a massive hidden cost in the form of visibility.
Anyone can search a wallet address and instantly view:

Current balances

Historical transaction habits

Massive inflows from exchanges

Specific interactions with DeFi protocols

Combine that data with modern AI analytics and a few scraps of off-chain information from social media or recent data breaches, and finding high-value targets requires almost no technical skill.
The result is terrifyingly simple. Criminals do not need to exploit smart contracts or hack protocols anymore. They just watch the public ledger, pick out wealthy holders, and plan physical attacks based on exact account balances.
The X Space panel emphasized how this shift moved the primary danger from digital theft to physical coercion, and the trend shows zero signs of slowing down.

Privacy Was Always the Missing Piece

The actual problem is not self-custody. The problem is public self-custody.
When every transaction and balance is visible by default, the most careful users are still completely exposed. Mixers and privacy coins provided partial fixes in the past, but they usually forced users to sacrifice usability, composability, or regulatory compliance.
We need a completely different approach. Privacy must live directly inside the infrastructure, without pushing users out of secure and composable ecosystems like Arbitrum.

How Fhenix and SedonaFi Solve the Problem

This is exactly where the collaboration between Fhenix and SedonaFi makes a tangible difference.
Fhenix built its CoFHE technology around Fully Homomorphic Encryption to run computations on encrypted data. SedonaFi integrated this directly into its self-custodial DeFi platform, treating privacy as the default state rather than a clumsy add-on.
Here is how that translates to everyday security:

Encrypted balances: Large holdings no longer show up on block explorers.

Private portfolio positions: Your assets and trading strategies stay hidden but remain entirely functional.

Confidential transactions: Moving funds around does not broadcast your net worth or daily habits to attackers.

Self-custody without exposure: Users maintain total control over their private keys while operating inside a fully private environment.

Because they built this on Arbitrum, the integration keeps the speed, liquidity, and composability that DeFi users demand, all while stripping away the public visibility that drives these physical attacks.
As the speakers pointed out, privacy has moved far beyond financial confidentiality. For many people, it is strictly a matter of personal safety.

From Visible Targets to Invisible Wealth

The traditional model of public ledgers mixed with self-custody created a bizarre environment where succeeding in crypto literally put a target on your physical back. The updated model, driven by Fhenix's CoFHE technology and platforms like SedonaFi, completely reverses that dynamic.
Users can now trade, manage assets, and earn yield in DeFi knowing their financial footprint is private by default. This does more than improve the user experience, as it directly kills the financial incentive for criminals to plan these real-world attacks.
Pairing hardcore encryption with highly usable DeFi infrastructure is the only way to fix this issue at scale.

The Path Forward

Public blockchains introduced incredible transparency and decentralization to the world. However, as AI tools make wallet tracking faster and physical threats escalate, true confidentiality is no longer optional.
The partnership between Fhenix and SedonaFi offers a highly practical fix. They are building a self-custodial financial ecosystem where privacy is the absolute baseline, rather than an afterthought.
If keeping your assets safe from both digital hackers and physical intruders matters to you, this is where the industry needs to go.
