Arbitrum’s ARB token climbed 13.3% over the past 24 hours to trade near $0.086, lifting its market capitalization back toward $549 million. The move followed a statement from Offchain Labs co-founder Steven Goldfeder, who spelled out how much revenue the Arbitrum ecosystem collects from chains built on its technology. His statement confirmed that 10% of fees from Robinhood Chain and every other Arbitrum L2 goes to the ecosystem, split between 8% for the tokenholder-controlled treasury and 2% for development funding, while 100% of fees generated on Arbitrum One flow to the treasury. The clarification landed at the same moment Robinhood switched on support for its new chain inside Robinhood Wallet, giving traders two catalysts in a single session.

ARB has spent years fighting the same criticism leveled at most governance tokens, namely voting rights without any claim on the network’s economics, and a fixed public revenue split gives holders a concrete counterargument for the first time.

How the 8/2 Split Actually Works

The mechanism sits inside the Arbitrum Expansion Program, the licensing framework that lets companies deploy their own chains using Arbitrum’s code. The split applies to chains deployed outside Arbitrum One, and the fee base is defined as protocol net revenue, meaning the model targets revenue after network costs rather than a share of every raw user payment. According to Offchain Labs, the shared revenue comes from sequencer profits and can also include proceeds from Timeboost, Arbitrum’s mechanism for capturing maximal extractable value.

A sequencer, the operator that orders transactions on an L2, earns the difference between what users pay and what the chain spends posting data to Ethereum, and that margin is what gets divided.

Because ARB holders govern the treasury, every new chain that launches under the program enlarges the pool of assets the token community controls. That is the closest thing to a cash-flow argument the token has had since its 2023 airdrop, even if holders still cannot claim distributions directly.

Robinhood Wallet Turns the Chain Into a Consumer Product

Robinhood Chain went live on July 1as a dedicated Arbitrum chain that settles to Ethereum, and the wallet integration this week is what puts it in front of retail users. People can now bridge assets from Solana, Ethereum, Arbitrum and other networks into Robinhood Chain and execute swaps without leaving the app.

Early usage gives the revenue model its first real test data. The network has generated about $57,000 in protocol revenue since the July 1 launch, according to on-chain figures cited by Offchain Labs. The absolute numbers are small, but the addressable user base is not: eligible users in more than 120 countries can already trade tokenized stocks through Robinhood Wallet, with spot liquidity running through Uniswap, Lighter and 1inch.

ARB Breaks Out of a Week-Long Range Near $0.076

On the hourly chart, ARB had traded between roughly $0.075 and $0.082 since July 2, repeatedly stalling under a tight cluster of moving averages, before cutting through all three of them on July 9 in one continuous move to $0.087. The 50-hour, 100-hour and 200-hour simple moving averages sit compressed between $0.0785 and $0.0788.

With all three averages compressed within a fraction of a cent, sellers had been leaning on one well-defined ceiling rather than three separate levels, and the July 9 candle removed it in a single move. The cluster now sits under the price as the first zone buyers would need to defend on a pullback.

The caveat is the hourly RSI at 83.7, well past the 70 mark that signals a move running hot. Readings this stretched usually buy the market a pause or a partial giveback, though on their own they rarely mark the top.

If ARB pulls back and $0.082 holds, the level that capped price for a week has switched sides. A drop through the SMA cluster is the scenario that undoes the breakout and points back toward $0.075.

The Metrics That Decide Whether 10% Means Anything

None of this moves the treasury unless the chains built on the stack process serious volume, which is what the platform’s latest pricing change targets. The Arbitrum Platform this week introduced Dynamic Pricing, a resource-based fee model under which users pay only for what they consume, with Offchain Labs reporting that Arbitrum One has already sustained throughput of 910 MGas per second on mainnet. Cheaper, more predictable costs are designed to attract the kind of institutional chains the Expansion Program monetizes.

The figures worth tracking from here are quarterly: net revenue reported by Robinhood Chain and the other 30-plus dedicated chains on the platform, the pace of new Expansion Program launches, and whether the DAO begins publishing standardized revenue comparisons across partner chains, something its factsheet wording already hints at. If Robinhood’s early revenue compounds with tokenized stock volume across 120 markets, the treasury inflow stops being a rounding error. The alternative is ARB trading on sentiment alone, and an RSI at 83 suggests sentiment is already carrying most of the load.
