Polymarket has integrated Spark to enable instant Bitcoin Lightning deposits on its prediction market platform, giving users a new way to fund their accounts using Bitcoin's Lightning Network.

What Polymarket and Spark announced

The integration pairs Polymarket, the leading crypto prediction market, with Spark, a Lightning Network infrastructure provider. According to Spark's official announcement, the partnership enables Polymarket users to deposit Bitcoin instantly through Lightning Network rails. For related coverage, see BlackRock Files for Bitcoin Income ETF: What the Filing Means.

The move represents a shift in how Polymarket handles deposits. Rather than relying solely on stablecoin or traditional crypto transfers, the platform now accepts Bitcoin via Lightning, a layer-2 payment network designed for fast, low-cost transactions.

What the announcement confirms

The core detail is straightforward: Polymarket users can now send Bitcoin through Lightning and have funds available on the platform near-instantly. The integration is powered by Spark's infrastructure, which handles the Lightning payment processing on Polymarket's behalf.

Polymarket has faced scrutiny in other areas, including a front-end hack that drained $3.1 million from user wallets and U.S. senators calling on the CFTC to investigate its marketing practices. Adding a Bitcoin-native deposit method broadens the platform's payment options amid ongoing regulatory attention.

How instant Lightning deposits change the user flow

For Polymarket users, the practical change is a new funding path. Instead of converting Bitcoin to a stablecoin on a separate exchange and then transferring it, users can send Bitcoin directly from any Lightning-compatible wallet.

User benefits

Lightning deposits settle in seconds rather than minutes or hours. This speed matters on a prediction market where odds shift rapidly around breaking events, and slow funding can mean missing a favorable price.

The integration also removes an intermediary step. Users holding Bitcoin no longer need to sell it for USDC or another stablecoin before depositing. How Spark handles the BTC-to-settlement-currency conversion on the backend has not been detailed publicly.

Details that remain unconfirmed

Specific deposit limits, fee structures, and regional availability have not been disclosed in the available materials. Whether the feature is live for all users globally or rolling out in phases is also unclear from current reporting.

Why the Bitcoin and Lightning angle matters

Prediction markets have historically operated on Ethereum-based stablecoins. Polymarket itself runs on Polygon and settles in USDC. Adding Bitcoin Lightning as a deposit rail is notable because it connects the platform to Bitcoin's ecosystem directly.

Lightning's relevance here goes beyond speed. The network has seen growing adoption for payments, and as crypto.news reported, the Spark-powered integration positions Polymarket to tap into a user base that prefers holding and transacting in Bitcoin rather than stablecoins.

This fits a broader trend of platforms adding Bitcoin payment rails. GoMining recently launched its GoBTC Pay SDK for Bitcoin payments, signaling growing demand for native BTC transaction infrastructure across crypto services.
