Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has announced its support for the upcoming rebranding of Toncoin ($TON) to Gram ($GRAM), a move that includes a full ticker symbol change. As part of the transition, Bybit will delist and suspend trading for all existing TON spot trading pairs starting at 8:00 a.m. UTC on June 16.

What the Rebranding Means for Traders

The rebranding from Toncoin to Gram marks a significant shift for the project, which originally emerged from the Telegram Open Network (TON) ecosystem. The new ticker, GRAM, references the native token of the original TON blockchain concept. Bybit’s decision to delist TON pairs is a procedural step to accommodate the ticker change, ensuring a smooth transition for users holding the asset.

Traders with open orders in TON pairs should close or adjust their positions before the deadline. After the delisting, Bybit will convert existing TON balances to GRAM at a predetermined ratio, which the exchange has yet to disclose. Users are advised to monitor official Bybit announcements for exact conversion details and timelines.

Background and Market Context

Toncoin has been a notable asset in the cryptocurrency market, with a market capitalization that has fluctuated amid broader market trends. The rebranding to Gram is seen as an effort to align the token more closely with its original vision and to distinguish it from other projects using similar names. The move has been anticipated by the community and is expected to be supported by other major exchanges in the coming weeks.

Bybit, one of the leading derivatives and spot trading platforms, has a history of supporting token rebrandings and network upgrades. The exchange’s proactive communication about the timeline reflects its commitment to user transparency and operational reliability.

Implications for the Broader Crypto Ecosystem

Token rebrandings are not uncommon in the cryptocurrency space, but they require careful coordination between project teams, exchanges, and wallet providers. For investors, the ticker change does not alter the underlying token’s value or utility, but it may cause temporary confusion or trading disruptions. Bybit’s clear timeline helps mitigate such risks.

The move also highlights the ongoing evolution of the TON ecosystem, which has seen renewed development activity and community interest. The Gram ticker carries historical weight, as it was originally proposed during Telegram’s blockchain initiative before regulatory challenges led to a pivot.

Conclusion

Bybit’s support for Toncoin’s rebranding to Gram is a procedural but necessary step for the token’s identity shift. Traders should prepare for the June 16 trading halt and subsequent automatic conversion. The event underscores the importance of exchange cooperation in maintaining orderly markets during token transitions.
