The integration allows developers to have direct access to LI.FI’s cross-chain routing technology already connects with over 60 blockchain networks and facilitates the movement of liquidity for over 1,000 decentralized applications. The announcement states that LI.FI has handled over $80 billion worth of transfers in over 100 million transactions.

By integrating LI.FI’s APIs and SDKs, applications building on Somnia can now offer seamless asset transfers, native swaps, cross-chain deposits, and simplified onboarding experiences directly inside their platforms.

Somnia Focuses on Infrastructure for Autonomous Systems

Somnia remains on a path towards being an “Agentic L1” to support autonomous agents, AI systems, and live, real-time decentralized applications.

Developers have been developing applications that demand “two-way streets” between users, liquidity, and various blockchain ecosystems, and the network has gained traction in this area. Other Somnia projects include AI-powered prediction market platform Prophecy Social and fully on-chain trading infrastructure provider dreamDEX.

Developers need interoperability solutions that can handle real-time operations across multiple chains, as decentralized apps move towards becoming more reactive and automated. Somnia expects that cross-chain infrastructure will eventually prove crucial to the next generation of AI-powered decentralized applications.

LI.FI Expands Crosschain Capabilities for Builders

LI.FI has emerged as one of the most popular crypto interoperability layers. This platform focuses on bringing together liquidity across blockchain ecosystems and asset mobility between networks.

Together, the partnership will allow for liquidity to be channeled from external, off-chain systems to apps and will bridge and integrate swaps seamlessly into the Somnia user experience. The infrastructure also allows for the accurate connection of yield strategies to over 20 vault protocols on several chains.

Workflow orchestration technology is another large feature, in that it enables developers to integrate multi-step processes into single-transaction experiences for users.

As interoperability between various networks gets more critical, it is becoming a major part of decentralized infrastructure. As blockchain networks start to break across ecosystems, users and developers are seeking easy, simple cross-chain movement without complex manual bridging.

Crosschain Infrastructure Becoming Critical for AI Applications

The integration is part of the industry trend of AI-powered applications and autonomous systems that demand multi-blockchain access to liquidity and assets.

Agentic applications cannot work standalone, Somnia said. To be effective, autonomous systems must be real-time responsive and composable, and must have efficient ecosystem inter-coordination.

Interoperability is crucial for applications like AI-powered trading systems, automated prediction markets, and reactive DeFi protocols. If the functionalities of next-generation decentralized platforms are what developers demand, they will face challenges if they don’t have reliable cross-chain infrastructure in place.

By leveraging existing routing infrastructure, developers have more time to build those applications and less time to run and maintain complex bridge and liquidity systems.

Furthermore, the collaboration could enhance Somnia’s market share in the fast-changing AI and blockchain infrastructure industry, where multiple networks vie for the role of foundation layers for self-governing digital economies.

Growing Demand for Simplified User Experiences

Usability and onboarding continue to be one of the big challenges of distributed applications. Even for some blockchain users, transferring assets across networks or finding liquidity across ecosystems remains a challenge.

Those experiences could be made simpler with LI.FI integration provides developers the ability to hide away the technical complexity from end users. Unlike manual bridging or frequent network switching, applications can incorporate cross-chain capabilities into the interface.

The widespread growth of the decentralized finance (DeFi) and AI sectors alike highlights the prevalence of a need to make the onboarding process simpler and facilitate liquidity flow without friction.
