Unsealed court filings reveal that Jane Street liquidated massive positions right before the TerraUSD (UST) de-peg, highlighting a $40 billion collapse driven by hidden mechanics. As Bitcoin (BTC) retreats to $77,371 amid broader market uncertainty, retail buyers are shifting toward transparently structured early-stage projects like the Gruntle ($GRUNTLE) presale, which recently crossed $104,130 in its current funding round.

The latest disclosures surrounding the Terra ecosystem crash show that institutional insiders allegedly secured their exits while retail holders absorbed the 100% loss. CoinCentral’s coverage of the UST crash highlights how algorithmic stablecoin mechanics were manipulated behind closed doors. This lack of transparency continues to impact the broader market today, with Bitcoin (BTC) dropping 0.49% to $77,371 as traders weigh ongoing liquidation risks and historical precedent.

Bad tokenomics show up when market conditions deteriorate. In contrast to the hidden algorithmic flaws of the 2022 collapses, Gruntle ($GRUNTLE) launched with a fully public, mathematically capped structure. The project’s smart contract passed a comprehensive audit by CredShields on May 13, 2026, ensuring that the 5,000,000,000 total token supply is distributed exactly as outlined.

A core component of this structure is The Doomsday Vault, which locks 25% of the total supply (1,250,000,000 tokens) in a multi-sig wallet. This allocation is strictly reserved for future centralised exchange listings and ecosystem development, removing the risk of sudden, unaccounted insider dumps that plagued legacy algorithmic projects.

Deep Mud Reserve Allocates 20 Percent of Supply for Buybacks

Buyback mechanisms are becoming a standard requirement for serious protocols looking to manage circulating supply. Recently, Nexpace committed to a $10 million buyback program to support its ecosystem, a move detailed in CryptoPotato’s recent NXPC report. Gruntle incorporates a similar deflationary tool directly into its foundation through The Deep Mud Reserve.

This reserve allocates 20% of the total supply, or 1,000,000,000 tokens, specifically for tactical buybacks and permanent burns. When market conditions dip, the reserve executes purchases to shrink the available supply, a mechanic that analysts suggest could support the token’s value over time.

The current presale round is rapidly advancing, with Round 5 now 93.31% filled after raising $104,130 of its $111,600 target. Buyers entering today secure a price of $0.000625, which will increase by 0.3% to $0.000627 once the current round target is met. The final listing price is set at $0.000713, representing a 14.1% gap from the current entry level.

Early participants are also accessing the Hibernation Staking pool, which is currently paying 11,111% APY. This yield is variable and computed directly from the 250,000,000-token rewards pool, meaning the rate decays as more tokens are staked. Visit the Gruntle presale page to lock in the current phase price before the pool fills further.

Bad tokenomics shows up in bear markets. Locked allocations, capped supplies, and burn mechanisms survive them. The Gruntle audit is published, the multi-sig is live, and the presale is open at $0.000625.
