Bybit has announced it will support the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) v29.0.0 network upgrade, ensuring continued access to BCH services for users on the exchange during and after the transition.

The announcement, posted on Bybit's official announcements page, confirms the exchange will handle the technical changes required by the new software version. Exchange support during network upgrades is critical because deposits, withdrawals, and on-chain settlement depend on the platform running compatible node software.

What the BCH v29.0.0 Upgrade Introduces

The Bitcoin Cash Node team published details of the v29.0.0 release on its official newsroom. Network upgrades in Bitcoin Cash follow a regular cadence, with new versions introducing consensus rule changes, performance improvements, or protocol-level feature additions.

Version numbering matters because nodes running incompatible software can fall out of sync with the network after an upgrade activates. When a major exchange like Bybit commits to supporting a specific version, it signals that its infrastructure team has reviewed the changes and prepared its systems accordingly.

This kind of operational readiness is especially important for traders who hold BCH on the platform. Without exchange support, users could face frozen deposits or delayed withdrawals during the upgrade window, similar to disruptions seen during past network transitions where exchanges have had to coordinate with infrastructure partners to maintain service continuity.

Why Exchange Support Matters During Blockchain Upgrades

Blockchain upgrades require every participant in the network to run updated software. For centralized exchanges, this means coordinating wallet infrastructure, hot and cold storage systems, and withdrawal processing pipelines ahead of the activation block.

Bybit's early announcement gives users time to plan around potential service windows. The crypto industry has seen cases where delayed exchange readiness led to prolonged deposit freezes, sometimes prompting regulatory discussions about how platforms handle network transitions and user fund accessibility.

For BCH holders who also use other platforms, confirming upgrade support across all exchanges where they hold funds is a basic precaution. The coordination challenge grows when upgrades coincide with broader market volatility, a dynamic familiar to traders who followed high-profile crypto asset movements in recent months.

What Bybit Users Should Watch Before and After the Upgrade

BCH deposits and withdrawals may be temporarily paused around the upgrade activation time. Bybit typically announces specific maintenance windows closer to the event, so users should monitor the exchange's announcements channel for timing updates.

A support announcement does not mean trading will be disrupted. Spot and derivatives markets for BCH can continue operating normally even if on-chain transfers are briefly suspended. The distinction matters for active traders who may confuse a deposit pause with a full trading halt.

Users holding BCH in external wallets should also verify that their wallet software is compatible with v29.0.0 before sending funds to Bybit after the upgrade. Sending transactions from a node running outdated software could result in rejected or stuck transfers.
