A new player in the prediction market space, XO Market, is positioning itself as a direct rival to established platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi. Unlike its competitors, which curate markets internally, XO Market allows users to create their own markets and share in the revenue. This user-generated model, compared to YouTube’s creator economy, has already generated over $150 million in trading volume since its mainnet beta launch in November.

How XO Market Differs from Polymarket and Kalshi

The core distinction lies in market creation. Platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi operate similarly to Netflix—an internal team selects and manages all available markets. XO Market flips this model, empowering users to launch markets on any topic they choose. This approach, the company says, democratizes access to prediction markets and taps into a wider range of interests.

Since its beta launch, XO Market has attracted over 30,000 users and hosts more than 600 active markets. These figures highlight the platform’s rapid adoption. For context, Polymarket, which launched in 2020, has processed billions in volume but relies on a curated selection of events, primarily political and sports-related. Kalshi, a regulated U.S. exchange, focuses on economic and event-based contracts.

Revenue Sharing Model: A YouTube for Markets

XO Market’s revenue-sharing mechanism is a key differentiator. Market creators earn a portion of the trading fees generated from their markets. This incentive structure encourages users to create high-quality, engaging markets that attract liquidity and traders. The model mirrors YouTube’s approach, where content creators monetize their videos through ad revenue.

This system could lead to a broader diversity of markets. Users can create predictions on niche topics—from local election outcomes to entertainment awards—that larger platforms might overlook. This variety may attract a different demographic of traders and speculators.

XO Vaults: Opening Liquidity Provision to Everyone

The platform is preparing to launch XO Vaults, a feature designed to democratize liquidity provision. Traditionally, market making is dominated by professional firms and sophisticated algorithms. XO Vaults will allow general users to provide liquidity to prediction markets and earn yields in return.

This move could significantly deepen the liquidity pools on XO Market. Deeper liquidity typically leads to tighter spreads and better execution for traders. It also reduces the risk of market manipulation, a concern that has plagued smaller prediction platforms. By opening this role to a wider user base, XO Market aims to create a more resilient and decentralized trading environment.

Impact on the Prediction Market Landscape

The emergence of XO Market introduces new competitive dynamics. Polymarket and Kalshi have established strong brand recognition and regulatory compliance, particularly in the United States. Kalshi, for example, is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), giving it a regulatory edge.

XO Market, however, operates in a less regulated space, which allows for faster innovation but also carries higher risks. The platform’s success will depend on its ability to attract users, maintain market integrity, and navigate evolving regulatory frameworks. The $150 million in volume suggests strong initial traction, but sustained growth requires continuous user engagement and trust.

User Experience and Platform Features

XO Market’s interface is designed for simplicity. Users can browse active markets, view odds, and place trades with a few clicks. The platform supports multiple cryptocurrencies for deposits and withdrawals, reducing friction for crypto-native users. It also offers real-time data and charting tools, similar to traditional trading platforms.

The user-generated market creation process is straightforward. Users specify the event, set the resolution criteria, and define the market’s expiration date. The platform then handles the order book and settlement. This ease of use lowers the barrier to entry for non-technical users who want to create markets.

Security and Trust Considerations

Prediction markets rely heavily on trust. Users must believe that outcomes will be resolved fairly and that funds are secure. XO Market uses smart contracts on a blockchain to automate settlement, reducing the need for intermediaries. However, smart contract vulnerabilities remain a risk.

The platform has not disclosed any major security incidents since its launch. However, as it scales, it will need to invest in audits and bug bounty programs to maintain user confidence. Transparency in market resolution is also critical—users must be able to verify outcomes independently.

Market Data and Growth Metrics

Below is a summary of XO Market’s key metrics compared to its main competitors:

These figures show XO Market’s rapid early growth. However, it still trails the established players in total volume and user base. The user-generated model may accelerate growth if it successfully attracts niche communities.

Regulatory Landscape and Future Outlook

Prediction markets face an uncertain regulatory environment globally. In the U.S., the CFTC has taken action against some unregistered platforms. Kalshi’s CFTC registration gives it a compliance advantage. Polymarket has faced scrutiny but continues to operate. XO Market’s decentralized model may complicate regulatory compliance.

Despite these challenges, the prediction market sector is growing. Analysts expect the market to expand as more users seek alternative ways to speculate on events. XO Market’s user-generated approach could capture a share of this growth, particularly if it builds a strong community and maintains a high level of trust.

Conclusion

XO Market is carving out a distinct niche in the prediction market industry by allowing users to create and profit from their own markets. With $150 million in trading volume and over 30,000 users since its November beta launch, the platform shows early promise. The upcoming XO Vaults feature aims to further differentiate it by democratizing liquidity provision. While challenges remain—including regulatory hurdles and competition from established players like Polymarket and Kalshi—XO Market’s innovative model positions it as a notable contender in the evolving landscape of decentralized prediction markets.
