The launch makes Ondo the largest real-world asset issuer on Solana by asset count and puts it in direct competition with xStocks, which has held about $182 million in deposited assets since its June 2025 debut.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-what-does-the-solana-launch-mean-for-ondo-strong-span-span">What Does The Solana Launch Mean For Ondo?</h2>
The&nbsp;<a href="https://ondo.finance/blog/global-markets-live-on-solana" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">expansion</a> gives Ondo access to over 3.2 million daily active users on Solana's blockchain. According to Ian De Bode, President of Ondo Finance, the platform enables users to "buy tokenized stocks in size at brokerage prices" with liquidity sourced directly from Wall Street exchanges including NASDAQ and NYSE.
Ondo Global Markets now offers the broadest catalog of tokenized equities on Solana. The asset selection includes blue-chip stocks, broad-market and sector ETFs, leveraged long and short ETFs, and commodity-linked ETFs covering gold and silver. The platform also provides exposure to specific sectors such as artificial intelligence and electric vehicles.
The company reports supporting million-dollar trade sizes with near-zero slippage by tapping into traditional exchange liquidity rather than relying on onchain liquidity pools. This approach differs from many decentralized finance protocols that struggle to maintain deep liquidity across multiple assets.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-what-is-ondo-finance-and-what-does-it-do-strong-span-span">What Is Ondo Finance And What Does It Do?</h2>
Founded as a real-world asset issuer, Ondo Finance tokenizes traditional financial products including US Treasuries, stocks, and ETFs. The platform represents these assets as onchain tokens while keeping the underlying securities in regulated custody.
Ondo launched its Global Markets platform on Ethereum in September 2025 with over 100 tokenized assets before expanding to BNB Chain in October 2025. As of January 2026, the platform holds $460 million in total value locked and has processed more than $6.8 billion in cumulative trading volume. Across all Ondo products, total value locked reaches $2.17 billion according to DefiLlama data.
<h3 id="span-span-strong-the-real-world-asset-model-strong-span-span">The Real-World Asset Model</h3>
Unlike synthetic products that track asset prices through derivatives, Ondo's tokens are backed by actual securities held in custody. The blockchain handles settlement and record keeping while the assets remain governed by existing securities regulations.
This structure means tokenized stock ownership represents legal claims to real shares, not just price exposure. Settlement occurs in seconds rather than the standard T+1 or T+2 cycles used by traditional brokerages, where trades take one or two business days to finalize.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-why-launch-on-solana-strong-span-span">Why Launch On Solana?</h2>
Solana's technical architecture supports high transaction throughput and low latency, making it suitable for continuous trading operations. The blockchain can handle peak trading volumes without the congestion issues that affect some other networks.
The platform enables 24/7 trading of tokenized stocks and ETFs, keeping markets open during weekends and holidays when traditional exchanges close. For global investors in different time zones and crypto-native traders accustomed to nonstop markets, this removes scheduling constraints.
Transaction costs on Solana remain lower than Ethereum mainnet, which benefits users making frequent trades.&nbsp;
<blockquote>
 “Solana is designed to support high-performance financial applications at global scale,” said Nick Ducoff, Head of Institutional Growth at Solana Foundation. “As Solana powers internet capital markets, real-world assets are an important part of that future. Ondo Global Markets’ launch brings a broad range of tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs into the Solana ecosystem, expanding what’s possible for onchain finance.”

<h2 id="span-span-strong-competition-with-xstocks-strong-span-span">Competition With xStocks</h2>
Ondo enters a market where xStocks, operated by Backed Finance, has established presence since June 30, 2025. xStocks has processed more than&nbsp;<a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20251112580472/en/xStocks-Surpasses-%2410-Billion-in-Total-Transaction-Volume-With-Nearly-%242-Billion-Onchain" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">$10 billion</a> in total transaction volume as of early November, with over&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/xStocksFi/status/2013607448808984597" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">100,000 unique holders</a>.
The platform provides access through major exchanges including Kraken, Bybit, and Jupiter. Backed Finance was acquired by Kraken earlier in January 2026, potentially strengthening its competitive position.
Before Ondo's launch, Solana carried 319 tokenized assets. The addition of 200-plus new securities significantly expands the ecosystem's real-world asset offerings. According to Ondo, thousands more assets are planned for future deployment.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-conclusion-strong-span-span">Conclusion</h2>
Ondo Global Markets operates as the largest tokenized securities platform by total value locked, with $460 million across its products and $6.8 billion in cumulative trading volume. The Solana deployment provides access to more than 200 tokenized US stocks and ETFs for 3.2 million daily active users. The platform sources liquidity from NASDAQ and NYSE, enabling million-dollar trades with minimal slippage while maintaining 24/7 market access and settlement times measured in seconds rather than days.
