Metis has launched its 2026 roadmap focused on developing a comprehensive AI-optimized execution layer for Ethereum. Highlighting a shift from solely being a Layer 2 solution, Metis plans to integrate advanced AI capabilities with its existing infrastructure.

The roadmap features three core networks: Andromeda for settlement and rollup, Hyperion for execution of AI and finance applications, and LazAI for AI-native tasks. Metis aims to enhance the Metis token unification within this architecture.

Industry stakeholders view the roadmap as a pivotal expansion of AI functionality within Ethereum's blockchain ecosystem. The initiative positions Metis as a critical player in bridging Ethereum settlement with dynamic AI applications, potentially influencing market perceptions. "Our architecture operates on a seamless loop: user interactions generate verifiable data on LazAI, intensive workloads are handled by compute on Hyperion, and all resulting value finds its finality with transaction settlement on Andromeda," stated the Metis Team in their official blog.

The roadmap emphasizes a regulatory-resilient network, promising full decentralization and secure interactions across applications. With strong ties to Ethereum's security, these advancements could potentially reshape decentralized finance (DeFi) and underlying blockchain infrastructure.
