On paper, it’s the gold standard. In practice, implementation has been messier.By December: 102 licensed crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) across the EU, with 12 being traditional credit institutions. But the stablecoin issuer market remains underdeveloped , just 30 active issuers.The Netherlands and Malta issued licenses on day one. Germany followed in mid-January. Other member states are dragging transition periods to July 2026.
