Sui Network has signaled the future introduction of private transactions on its layer-1 blockchain.

The initiative is designed to enable regulation-compliant, seamless on-chain payments without requiring users to opt in manually.

This development emerges as the digital asset industry increasingly evaluates potential risks that quantum computing may pose to cryptography, with Bitcoin (BTC) frequently cited in these discussions.

On December 30, Mysten Labs co-founder and Chief Product Officer Adeniyi Abiodun confirmed that private transactions could roll out on Sui by 2026.

He explained that the functionality would rely on privacy primitives embedded directly at the protocol level.

The intended outcome is a system where only transaction participants can view transfer details while maintaining regulatory compatibility.

Sui’s design builds on privacy components developed several years ago and integrates them into native tools for DeFi and application development.

The network aims to preserve high throughput and low transaction fees while expanding confidentiality-focused capabilities.

Regulatory pressure and technological advances, including quantum computing developments, have influenced the network’s emphasis on privacy.

These measures may also increase interest from institutional participants seeking compliant and confidential blockchain infrastructure.

Quantum Computing and Blockchain Security

Researchers note that sufficiently advanced quantum computers could one day compromise Elliptic Curve Cryptography, which underpins most blockchain signatures and addresses.

Some analysts have warned that mitigation strategies for quantum threats may be needed in the near future to protect existing blockchain systems.

Others argue that the risks are overstated and that future technological progress could ultimately strengthen cryptographic resilience rather than undermine it.
