Altcoin Season 2026 is showing early signs. Bitcoin dominance is struggling near 60% resistance mark. Technical indicators point to potential momentum for altcoins. This move is supported by historical MACD patterns and macro-level market support trends.

Bitcoin Dominance Faces Resistance

Bitcoin dominance (BTC.D) currently tests the daily supply zone around the 60% area. Repeated rejections at this level suggest buyers are losing conviction while sellers defend the zone.

The 59.5%–60.2% range has consistently resisted upward pressure. Price action indicates potential for BTC.D to decline toward 58% or lower if momentum fades further. Such movements could benefit altcoins temporarily.

RSI analysis supports the weakening trend. The relative strength index shows bearish divergence, with peaks declining while the price remains sideways. This indicates momentum contraction and a potential shift toward altcoin strength.

Macro Support Points to Early Altcoin Momentum

Altcoin dominance on the monthly chart is testing a long-term macro support trendline. Historically, all touches on this trendline preceded major altcoin expansions. The most notable ones included 2018 and 2022.

A golden cross on the monthly MACD confirms momentum alignment. The MACD line crossing above the signal line, combined with a flattening bearish histogram, signals exhaustion of prior bearish pressure and potential accumulation.

Rounded base formation in altcoin dominance suggests a constructive buildup. This aligns with the MACD signal, indicating structural conditions favor a slow but sustained increase in altcoin market share.

Market Conditions Set for 2026 Expansion

The 2025 crypto market maintained a sideways structure, absorbing supply and digesting prior gains. This behavior tested conviction without signaling a major top.

Liquidity improvement and moderate interest rates in 2026 create favorable conditions for altcoin participation. Retail exposure remains limited, leaving room for gradual market expansion.

Rotational and selective market behavior supports continued altcoin accumulation. Analysts suggest that altcoin relative strength may increase if BTC dominance remains capped. This could mark the potential start of Altcoin Season 2026.
