XRP's price continued its downward trajectory on December 17, falling by 1.2%. This decline extends the ongoing slump that started in July, when the cryptocurrency soared to an all-time high of $3.6575. However, this price drop could signal the end of the bearish phase, as the token has formed a rare bullish pattern that could push its value toward the $3 mark, particularly as ETF inflows remain strong.

One of the key factors that could drive XRP's price recovery is the surge in demand for XRP spot ETFs. Launched last month, these ETFs have gained immense popularity among investors. According to data from SoSoValue, XRP ETFs have reached the remarkable milestone of $1 billion in inflows. This milestone is particularly significant, as it took Ethereum funds over a month to achieve a similar amount.

The inflows have been steady, with no day reporting a decline. The worst day for XRP ETFs was on November 18, when they saw $8.2 million in inflows. This continuous demand could be a signal of future growth, especially as JPMorgan projects that XRP ETFs could see inflows between $6 billion and $8 billion in their first year.

The influx into XRP ETFs comes at a time when both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs are experiencing significant outflows. Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a dramatic drop of $277 million on Tuesday, following a $357 million outflow the day before. Ethereum ETFs have also been underperforming, with over $500 million in outflows in the past four days, contributing to a significant decline from the peak of $15 billion in net inflows.
This rotation of assets from Bitcoin and Ethereum into XRP could signal a shift in investor interest. With Bitcoin and Ethereum funds underperforming, XRP may become a more attractive option, especially with its growing ETF inflows.
XRP’s price chart reveals a steep sell-off over the past few months, driven by decreased demand and broader market downturns. Despite most technical indicators signaling more downside, a closer look reveals that XRP has formed an inverted head-and-shoulders pattern. This pattern typically signals a reversal, and XRP is now in the right shoulder phase.
Additionally, the formation of a double-bottom pattern at the $1.8140 level suggests that a rebound may be on the horizon. If the price recovers, XRP could rise to the psychological $3 mark, representing a 57% increase from current levels. However, a break below the $1.8140 support would invalidate this bullish outlook.
