Thai investigators reported a major seizure of illegal Bitcoin mining equipment. According to authorities, seven companies operated large mining hubs that supported Chinese criminal groups. The gangs used stolen electricity to mine cryptocurrency. This method helped them convert free energy into profit and move funds through digital wallets.
Officials confirmed that they confiscated 3,642 Bitcoin mining devices. The equipment value reached $8.6 million. Many miners were hidden inside containers designed with strong sound insulation. The containers also included water cooling systems. This setup reduced noise and masked the real energy load.

Investigators explained that the mining farms connected to wider fraud networks. These networks included fake call centers that used forced labor. Criminal groups increasingly invest in physical infrastructure. So they build data centers and facilities filled with ASIC miners for crypto production.
Police said that criminals used Bitcoin to move money quickly. The mining process helped them hide the origin of stolen funds. Because electricity was taken from public lines, operational costs stayed low. The mined coins then passed through multiple transactions before ending up in overseas accounts.
The investigation is still underway. Authorities may expand inspections to find more illegal mining hubs. Officials note that demand for Bitcoin mining equipment keeps rising among fraud groups. The reason is simple: low operational costs and fast financial turnover.
