This new update allows anyone to host live auctions, mint NFTs in real time, and interact with buyers directly through Zora’s platform.

The move marks a significant step toward making NFT sales more dynamic and accessible. It gives creators and collectors a more engaging way to buy and sell digital assets.

How Live Works and Why It Matters

Zora Live lets creators showcase their NFTs in real time. Instead of listing items and waiting for bids to trickle in over days, creators can now start a live auction where bids happen instantly and the audience can interact through comments. Think of it like a live online art sale combined with a chat room, where excitement builds as the clock ticks down.

For beginners, this makes NFTs easier to understand and participate in. Live auctions provide immediate feedback on demand, letting creators see which pieces resonate most with collectors. This real-time approach mirrors trends in other sectors. For example, live commerce in Asia, where platforms like Taobao Live have sold billions of dollars of goods in real time. This demonstrates how interactive experiences can drive engagement and sales. NFT marketplaces adopting this model are tapping into the same energy and immediacy.

The NFT market has seen renewed interest in live events and real-time auctions. According to DappRadar, NFT trading volume jumped 20 percent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the previous quarter, fueled by platforms offering interactive experiences. Live features are helping platforms like Zora stand out by giving collectors a sense of connection to the creators and the community. Early reports from Zora suggest that Live auctions tend to close faster and attract more bids compared to traditional listings.
