Coinbase will introduce 24/7 U.S. perpetual futures trading for Shiba Inu, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, and other altcoins starting December 5, 2025, through its Coinbase Derivatives Exchange.
This expansion significantly enhances regulated crypto derivatives access, bridging gaps in the U.S. market and likely triggering increased activity among retail and institutional traders, particularly for meme coins.
Coinbase plans to introduce 24/7 U.S. perpetual-style futures for selected altcoins, commencing on December 5, 2025. This initiative aims to increase access to regulated crypto derivatives for both retail and institutional clients in the U.S.
The exchange's move involves assets like SHIB, BCH, and DOGE, among others. CEO Brian Armstrong leads the initiative through the Coinbase Derivatives Exchange, with no direct quotes provided on this announcement.
The immediate effect is expected to drive retail trading activity, particularly in altcoins such as SHIB and DOGE. Historical data suggests listings often lead to short-term trading volume spikes and volatility.
This expansion could bridge gaps left by offshore venues, aligning with CFTC regulations. Coinbase's regulated approach aims to attract U.S. institutional capital, potentially increasing market stability for affected assets.
Market analysts anticipate increased trading volume and volatility in the short term for included altcoins. The transparency and safety emphasized by Coinbase might mitigate retail risks compared to unregulated platforms.
The rollout is set within a CFTC-compliant framework, showing strides in regulated derivatives. Previous product launches reflect similar impacts in asset legitimization and temporary market surges, potentially encouraging broader engagement.
