The first half of 2025 has quietly redefined what “crypto adoption” means. Once dominated by retail investors chasing price swings, the landscape is now led by institutions using crypto as financial infrastructure—for payments, treasury operations, and liquidity management.
At Paybis, this shift is visible in the data. Institutional clients now represent 63% of total on-ramp activity, overtaking retail users for the first time in the company’s history. More importantly, 82% of total Paybis volume comes from B2B transactions—companies and financial platforms integrating digital assets into their daily operations.

Institutional crypto adoption has changed the rails that move money. Instead of relying on cards or slower payment methods, businesses are embracing account-to-account networks that enable instant, high-value transactions.
Across major markets, real-time payment systems are setting new benchmarks:

SEPA Instant is driving instant settlement in Europe.

The U.S. has Fedwire and same-day ACH.

India continues to lead with UPI.

Brazil’s Pix, enhanced with Pix Automático for recurring payments, has become a model for real-time banking innovation.

This global shift means crypto on-ramps like Paybis are now part of a broader financial transformation, where businesses use digital assets not as speculative tools, but as regulated, efficient instruments for moving value across borders.

2025 has also been a year of regulatory milestones that have brought stability and confidence to the crypto market.
In Europe, the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation reached full implementation. By June 30, 2025, new rules for e-money and asset-referenced tokens were enforced, and by December 30, comprehensive standards for crypto-asset service providers will come under the watch of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
This new structure creates a passportable licensing system, meaning compliant firms can operate across EU borders with unified oversight. It’s a crucial step toward global regulatory consistency.
In the United States, the GENIUS Act, passed on July 18, 2025, introduced the first federal framework for payment stablecoins. The law mandates full reserve backing and routine disclosures, setting a precedent for transparency and reliability. Together, these developments mark a turning point where digital assets are being treated as part of the mainstream financial system, not an alternative to it.

Businesses are now using crypto on-ramps for everyday financial activities that once belonged solely to traditional banking.

Treasury management: Corporations are holding and converting stablecoins to manage liquidity across jurisdictions.

Payroll and settlements: Payments to global teams or partners can be processed instantly in stablecoins.

Cross-border efficiency: Instant conversion and transparent transaction tracking simplify global operations.

At Paybis, these functions are being directly integrated through API-based and OTC solutions, allowing enterprises to embed digital asset flows into their internal systems.

For retail users, crypto has matured in a different way. Instead of chasing speculative returns, individuals are now focusing on ownership and control. In the first half of 2025, 74% of new Paybis users chose self-custody wallets instead of keeping assets on centralized exchanges.
Improved wallet interfaces, better regulatory protection, and the growing cultural emphasis on financial independence have made self-custody the default choice for most new users. Paybis supports this shift with seamless, instant transfers to personal wallets, bridging convenience and security.

Operating in over 180 countries, Paybis continues to provide a fast, compliant, and transparent platform for both individuals and institutions. Payment options include cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay, Skrill, and Neteller, along with the freedom to use Paybis’ wallet or bring your own.
With robust compliance, low fees, and transparent pricing, Paybis remains focused on giving users a reliable gateway between traditional finance and digital assets—without compromising on speed or security.

If 2021 was the year of retail speculation and 2023 was about regulatory uncertainty, then 2025 is the year of institutional trust and operational use.
Crypto is no longer about buying and holding—it’s about moving, managing, and settling value in real time. Regulated stablecoins, instant payment rails, and self-custody tools are replacing hype with practicality.
