Facebook hosted creators and fashion enthusiasts in its VIP hub at the recently concluded Lagos Fashion Week 2025 event. The three-day event curated an immersive space called “the lounge experience”, celebrating creativity, connection and community among young adults, designers, creatives, fashion enthusiasts and creators.
“Facebook is a leading place for conversations around cultural moments, not just here in Nigeria but across the globe. Events like Lagos Fashion Week highlight how our platform brings people together to celebrate creativity, culture and community in real time,” Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa, at Meta, said.
According to Facebook, the Lounge experience highlighted how more young adults are using Facebook to discover new interests, express themselves, and connect with the world around them.
Through this, it showcased other tools that empower creators to engage meaningfully with their audiences and grow their passions into opportunities.

“We’re inspired by how young adults in Nigeria are using Facebook tools like Marketplace, where fashion has become the largest category on Facebook Marketplace in Nigeria, along with Reels and Groups to express themselves, build communities, and turn their passions into opportunities. We’ll continue to introduce features that help people explore their interests and connect more deeply with others,” Obagbemi added.
The Facebook Lounge was an interactive space where Nigerian celebrities, creators and fashion enthusiasts gathered to relax, connect and create memorable moments.
Guests enjoyed interactive photo sessions, Facebook-themed games and the engaging Reels Booth, where attendees captured short-form videos that reflected the creativity and energy of Lagos Fashion Week.
Celebrities such as Betty Ansah, Nonye Udeogu, and Oluwasola Obagbemi were present at the Facebook Lounge. Others were Hawa Magaji, Thelma Lawson, Larry Hector, Jola Ayeye, Okusaga and many more.
Throughout the three-day experience, Joseph Onaolapo (Jay On-Air), media presenter and content creator and fashion creator, Nonye Udeogu (Thisthingcalledfashion), hosted live interviews and social moments from the Lounge.

About Lagos Fashion Week 2025

The Lagos Fashion Week is an annual multi-day clothing trade show that takes place in Lagos, Nigeria. It was founded in 2011 by Omoyemi Akerele, and it is Africa’s largest fashion event, drawing considerable media attention, nationally and internationally.
The 2025 edition marked its 15th anniversary between October 29th to November 2nd, 2025, in Lagos with the theme, “In Full Bloom”.
This edition went beyond the runway to solidify the event’s status as Africa’s premier platform for fashion commerce and industry development, showcasing over 60 African designers and reinforcing its mission to propel African fashion onto the global stage.

The Lagos Fashion Week is fondly known for its vibrant runway shows, but its core function is rooted in business development and international trade. It actively works towards bridging the gap between African designers and the global fashion ecosystem by bringing together international buyers, media enthusiasts and investors.
Through initiatives like its Fashion Business Series, the event provides crucial education, mentorship, and networking opportunities, transforming creative talent into commercially viable businesses. This strategic focus helps African designers navigate the complexities of supply chain management, ethical production, and global retail expansion
However, the 2025 event edition has successfully leveraged digital technology to ensure its designers receive maximum international exposure. The presence of global tech partners, such as Facebook’s Lounge experience for creators, underscores the event’s commitment to integrating the digital world with the physical runway.
