When a blockchain network undergoes a mainnet upgrade, it’s a significant event. Think of it like a major software update for your computer or phone, but on a much larger, more fundamental scale. These upgrades are designed to introduce new features, improve network performance, enhance security, or fix existing issues. They are essential for the long-term health and evolution of any blockchain project.
For crypto exchanges like Bithumb, supporting such upgrades means ensuring the smooth transition of assets and maintaining the integrity of their trading platform. Temporarily pausing IOTX deposits and withdrawals prevents potential discrepancies or loss of funds that could occur if transactions were processed during the upgrade period. Therefore, Bithumb’s decision reflects a commitment to protecting its users and facilitating the technological advancement of the IoTeX network. It’s a standard and responsible practice within the cryptocurrency industry.
