Ripple’s CTO David Schwartz has recently ignited a wave of excitement in the crypto world after an unexpected exchange with Litecoin’s official X account. What began as a light-hearted comment quickly fueled speculations and raised eyebrows across both blockchain communities.
In the latest interaction, <a href="https://x.com/JoelKatz/status/1981833016923369719" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Schwartz jokingly responded</a> to Litecoin’s X account with, “You’re still here? (I’m kidding.)” The Litecoin account replied in kind, saying, “Enjoy the new position, ser,” along with a thumbs-up emoji.
This playful exchange seems to be referencing Schwartz’s recent transition within Ripple, where he stepped down from his role as CTO but will continue serving as CTO Emeritus and supporting the company’s strategic goals.
The interaction is especially noteworthy given the backdrop of a recent feud between the XRP and Litecoin communities. Just weeks prior, Litecoin’s X account made waves with a controversial post, mocking XRP and even referring to the token as “weighed and found unwanted,” comparing it to rotten eggs.
Litecoin also taunted Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, calling him “Brad Garlicmouse,” further escalating the situation.

However, the tone of this latest interaction seems to signal a shift from the previous tension. Litecoin’s earlier comments were part of a series of “roasts” directed at various blockchain projects, but the latest exchange with Schwartz feels much more amicable. Could this be a sign that the rivalry between the two crypto giants is cooling down, or is it just a temporary moment of peace?
Schwartz’s ongoing role in Ripple, despite his transition, is pivotal. As CTO Emeritus and a member of Ripple’s Board of Directors, his influence within the company remains strong.
He’s also taken on a new <a href="https://36crypto.com/big-news-ripples-evernorth-xrp-project-receives-200-million-investment-from-sbi-holdings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">strategic advisory role with Evernorth</a>, a pioneering institutional vehicle designed to foster XRP adoption, further cementing his involvement in Ripple’s future direction.
The crypto community will undoubtedly be watching to see how this exchange between Schwartz and Litecoin unfolds, but one thing is clear: the relationship between XRP and Litecoin is far from over. Whether it’s amicable or competitive, it will continue to make waves in the blockchain space.
