Galaxy Digital, founded by Mike Novogratz, is expanding its transition from crypto operations to artificial intelligence. The company has secured a $460 million private investment to advance the transformation of its former Bitcoin mining site in Texas into a large data center focused on AI and high-performance computing. The new funding reflects a wider shift among crypto-native companies redirecting their infrastructure toward AI as demand for computing power accelerates.

Novogratz said the investment strengthens Galaxy’s financial position and supports its expansion into large-scale data infrastructure. He emphasized that “having one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated institutional investors make such a significant investment in our company will support our strategic vision and our ability to build leading businesses across digital assets and data centers.“

This latest investment follows the closing of a $1.4 billion loan facility in August, which was arranged to fund the Helios datacenter campus. The company said that financing will cover the full cost of the site’s initial upgrades and expansion, enabling the first phase of power delivery for AI and high-performance computing through a long-term partnership with CoreWeave Inc.

At that time, Novogratz explained that Galaxy is advancing with a disciplined and strategic approach to develop Helios into one of the largest and most advanced AI data center facilities globally. He attributed the project’s progress to careful planning and consistent execution by the team.

As part of the facility’s development, CoreWeave has committed to the full 800 megawatts allocated to the Helios project. Based on the terms of these agreements, Galaxy expects to generate average annual revenue exceeding $1 billion over the 15-year duration of its partnership with CoreWeave.

The combination of Galaxy’s recent financing provides the resources to advance development of the Helios project while supporting the company’s ongoing transition from cryptocurrency mining to large-scale AI infrastructure.
