A sudden and severe collapse in Toncoin (TON) trading has shocked markets. On Binance, TON/USDT plunged from over $2.70 down to $0.554 in a flash crash, representing a drop in excess of –80 % at one point. The current spot price now hovers near $1.26, with dramatic volatility still rippling across order books and investor sentiment.
What’s happening:

The one-hour chart revealed an extreme downward spike, with TON’s value diving well below its previous support zones.

In the past 24 hours, the token’s high was near $2.755, while the low registered at $0.554, indicating widespread liquidation or a major cascade event.

The collapse coincided with broader crypto market tensions and may have been exacerbated by thin liquidity, aggressive stop loss triggers, or coordinated dumping.

Potential catalysts & reactions:

Some community voices speculate that negative commentary from key figures influenced short-term momentum — for instance, a past remark by Binance’s CZ criticizing Telegram (which is closely tied to TON) has been cited by observers as possible sentiment pressure.

TON has been under pressure in recent weeks. It recently fell below the $3.00 level following an ~7 % drop, as network and macro volatility weighed heavily.

On a broader scale, altcoins are suffering across the board: TON was among the hardest hit in a recent market purge, registering intraday losses of ~41 %, alongside assets like DOGE (~39 %) amid liquidation cascades.

What this means going forward:

The crash highlights how vulnerable even well‐known tokens can be to liquidity shocks and panic selling.

If support fails, TON could revisit sub-$1 territory or even test fractional values — though some sharp rebounds are possible if bidding interest returns.

Market watchers will be closely watching for order book recoveries, on-chain flows, and whether key holders intervene.
