The plan aims to invest €1 billion annually through Horizon Europe and Digital Europe programs. The initiative doesn't specify allocations to individual cryptocurrencies such as ETH or BTC, nor does it imply direct impacts on these assets presently.
Government AI funding in other regions has historically directed speculative interest towards AI-related tokens. However, this EU initiative currently shows no evidence of impacting DeFi or cryptocurrency assets based on available data.
No official response from key crypto figures or regulatory bodies has emerged due to this announcement. The European Commission emphasizes building AI that is human-centric and trustworthy, indicating a strong regulatory oversight focus.
While historical allocations have sparked market movements, the EU's plan maintains a broader digital strategy. This announcement suggests potential regulatory and infrastructural advancements with an emphasis on AI application across strategic sectors.
