21Shares collaborates with Stratiphy to launch crypto ETNs in the UK as the FCA lifts the retail access ban on these instruments starting 8 October 2025.
The partnership enables broader crypto market engagement, enhancing institutional and retail access through regulated financial tools, amid positive community sentiment.
21Shares and Stratiphy announce a partnership to offer UK-based regulated crypto ETNs. With the Financial Conduct Authority lifting its ban on retail access, the move marks a significant expansion in the availability of regulated crypto financial instruments. Further details can be found in their Guide to UK Crypto ETFs.
The collaboration involves 21Shares, led by Russell Barlow as CEO, and Stratiphy, a fintech platform with Daniel Gold as CEO. These ETNs will provide UK investors with regulated exposure to major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The availability of these regulated ETNs may potentially increase retail and institutional access to crypto assets in the UK. This step could stimulate interest in Bitcoin and Ethereum, driving broader demand across financial markets.
This strategic move by 21Shares and Stratiphy comes as the FCA allows UK retail participation in regulated crypto ETNs. The previous restriction on retail access is scheduled to end on 8 October 2025, making this initiative timely and significant.
The collaboration may lead to enhanced regulatory confidence within the crypto sector. While initial market responses are yet projected, investor interest could rise, especially for ETFs tracking core assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. As Max J. Heinzle, Founder and CEO of 21X, remarked, "Our singular focus has been to deliver a fully regulated blockchain–enabled exchange in the EU, and that mission has been a tremendous success."
Analysts predict that these ETNs could redirect off-chain investment flows toward crypto markets. While direct on-chain impacts remain unlikely, potential financial opportunities could arise from enhanced regulatory alignment, fostering secure financial participation.
