<p>XRP has always been linked to cross-border payments, yet in 2025 the story is changing. The token is no longer just a bridge for international transfers. It is now carving out space in decentralized finance, thanks to innovations that allow holders to put their assets to work. Automated market makers, cross-chain solutions, and tokenized versions like FXRP are reshaping <a href="https://captainaltcoin.com/xrp-price-prediction-xrps-chart-mirrors-the-2017-setup/" target="_blank">what XRP can do</a> inside DeFi.</p> 
<p>TheCryptoBasic pointed to comments from Flare CEO Hugo Philion, who believes these steps may unlock the next stage of XRP’s growth. According to him, the token is evolving into something more powerful than a payment tool.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-firelight-expands-defi-options-for-xrp">How Firelight Expands DeFi Options for XRP</h2> 
<p>In an interview shared by TheCryptoBasic, Philion introduced Firelight, Flare’s liquid staking system built for <a class="wpil_keyword_link" href="https://captainaltcoin.com/ripple-xrp-price-prediction/" title="XRP" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" target="_blank">XRP</a>. The idea is simple but impactful. Holders can deposit their XRP and receive stXRP, a liquid staking token that carries new possibilities.</p> 
<p>stXRP acts much like <a href="https://flare.network/products/fassets" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">FXRP,</a> Flare’s wrapped version of the XRP token used in DeFi. However, Philion explained that it offers more flexibility. Users can earn yield while still being able to borrow against their staked XRP. This way, they do not need to sell their holdings to access liquidity.</p> 
<p>According to TheCryptoBasic’s coverage, Firelight also aims to provide yields up to 7%. Importantly, the system is designed to remain non-custodial, meaning holders stay in control of their funds instead of handing them over to a centralized service.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="ripple-price-and-the-growing-interest-in-staking">Ripple Price and the Growing Interest in Staking</h2> 
<p>As XRP moves deeper into DeFi, the conversation naturally touches on Ripple price and where it might go next. While no one can say with certainty, tools like Firelight could play a role in shaping demand. If holders see their assets generating returns while staying liquid, the XRP token becomes more attractive for both retail and institutional users.</p> 
<p>Philion noted that interest is already building. Nasdaq-listed firm VivoPower has pledged $100 million worth of XRP to support Firelight. Crypto exchange Uphold has also teamed up with Flare, making FXRP more accessible. These partnerships hint at broader adoption that could influence the XRP price in the long run.</p>

<p>TheCryptoBasic also referenced how other projects are building around XRP. Axelar Network, for example, introduced mXRP, another liquid staking product offering annual returns as high as 10%. Such experiments expand the choices for holders and strengthen XRP’s presence in the <a href="https://www.investopedia.com/decentralized-finance-defi-5113835" target="_blank">DeFi landscape</a>.</p> 
<p>Some speculate that if DeFi demand grows, Ripple price could reflect that momentum. While bold forecasts such as a four-figure XRP price remain speculative, the important takeaway is that the token is gaining more real-world use cases. From yield generation to wrapped assets, these building blocks set the stage for possible long-term growth.</p>
