Former Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett has sparked fresh intrigue within the XRP community with a new update that hints at a significant shift in how holders can leverage their assets.
While her post stops short of offering explicit investment advice, it underscores an evolving opportunity that could reshape the way XRP investors think about yield and on-chain participation.

A New Path to XRP Yield

At the heart of this development is mXRP, a liquid staking product designed to help XRP holders earn passive income while retaining liquidity. The product targets yields of up to 8% annually, positioning itself as a strategic solution for long-term investors who want exposure to decentralized finance (DeFi) without sacrificing control of their tokens.
By allowing users to stake their XRP and simultaneously receive a tokenized representation of their stake, mXRP opens the door to earning rewards while continuing to trade or deploy capital elsewhere.

Strategic Collaboration Behind mXRP

This yield-generating mechanism is powered by a partnership between Midas, a DeFi and real-world asset platform, and Axelar, a leading cross-chain interoperability network. Axelar provides the cross-chain infrastructure that allows mXRP to move seamlessly across multiple blockchain ecosystems, including the XRPL EVM sidechain.
This interoperability is key to tapping diverse DeFi protocols for liquidity provision and market-making, thereby optimizing returns for participants.

Participation and Jurisdictional Limits

Despite its promise, mXRP is not available to residents of the United States or the United Kingdom, a restriction driven by regulatory requirements. Eligible holders in other jurisdictions, however, can participate by staking their XRP through the Midas platform and receiving mXRP in return.
This limitation highlights the ongoing regulatory divide in global crypto markets and underscores the importance of verifying one’s eligibility before engaging with the product.

Market Context and Potential Risks

The launch of mXRP comes amid heightened volatility in global markets, where shifting monetary policies and sudden liquidity changes can quickly impact yield strategies. While the advertised returns are attractive, prospective participants should carefully review the project’s smart contract audits, counterparty safeguards, and the broader macroeconomic environment.
As with any DeFi product, risks such as smart contract exploits, price swings, and liquidity crunches remain critical considerations.

Terrett’s Timely Signal

Eleanor Terrett’s update serves as a timely reminder for XRP holders to stay informed as the ecosystem evolves beyond simple transactions. By drawing attention to this emerging yield opportunity, she highlights how XRP can now play an active role in DeFi’s expanding landscape.
For eligible investors, mXRP represents a chance to earn passive income while remaining flexible in a dynamic market—but only after diligent research and risk assessment.
With liquid staking and cross-chain capabilities gaining traction, Terrett’s message is clear: the way XRP holders deploy their assets is entering a new era, and staying ahead of these developments is key to making informed decisions.
