An Arkham Intelligence user has placed a large short position on the $ASTER token. The decision to short the token has proven to be extremely costly, with the trader currently facing a loss exceeding $1 million. This loss includes both realized and unrealized profits and losses.

As of now, the portfolio balance stands at $608,668.52, showing a 45.76% increase. However, the individual’s short bet against $ASTER has put them on the edge of liquidation. The critical liquidation point is set at $3.35, and with $ASTER’s price approaching it, the situation is precarious.

Portfolio Breakdown and Short Position

The user’s portfolio consists of multiple assets, with a significant portion invested in $ASTER. The trader holds over 471,000 $ASTER tokens, valued at $603.3K. Other major holdings include Ethereum (ETH), valued at $5.36K, and Binance Coin (BNB), valued at $9.8K. In addition to these, there are smaller positions in stablecoins like USDT and USDC.

Despite the portfolio’s overall profit, the heavy short position in $ASTER has contributed to a significant loss. According to the platform’s data, the short position was entered when $ASTER was listed on Hyperliquid. The trader’s risk is further compounded by the market’s volatility, which has shown considerable price fluctuations for $ASTER.

Potential Risk of Liquidation

The Arkham user’s short position is now approaching a critical stage. The trader’s liquidation threshold is at $3.35, and with the price of $ASTER nearing this level, the risk of liquidation is growing. If the token hits this threshold, the entire position will be liquidated, potentially wiping out the user’s portfolio.

The user’s strategy was to profit from a decrease in $ASTER’s value, but with the current market trends, they could face a significant loss. The user’s account activity and trading patterns suggest a high tolerance for risk, but this trade could end up being disastrous.
