Every year, Apple releases new iPhone models, fueling more sales and increasing the company’s value. Users worldwide anticipate getting their hands on the latest devices, unveiled alongside other accessories and products in today’s Apple event.

Shift from iPhones to Bitcoin

Every new iPhone model launch creates high demand with people racing to purchase the latest version, often through loans. Despite minimal design changes over recent years, significant performance enhancements have kept the iPhones in high demand. But what if, instead of continually upgrading, you had invested in Bitcoin ?

Rather than diving into the details of the iPhone 17’s features, let’s explore an alternate scenario. What if you had invested in Bitcoin instead of buying each new iPhone model over the years?

If you invested the money spent on the iPhone 4s in Bitcoin, today you’d possess 162 BTC. Many remember the excitement for the iPhone 5, but choosing Bitcoin instead would have netted you 53 BTC. Similarly, the expenditure for the iPhone 5s could have fetched you around 1.7 BTC back then. The numbers only increase with subsequent models:

iPhone 6s – 2.8 BTC

iPhone 7 – 1.1 BTC

iPhone 8 – 0.19 BTC

iPhone X – 0.14 BTC

iPhone XS – 0.15 BTC

iPhone 11 – 0.068 BTC

iPhone 12 – 0.051 BTC

iPhone 13 – 0.018 BTC

iPhone 14 – 0.042 BTC

iPhone 15 – 0.031 BTC

iPhone 16 – 0.014 BTC

iPhone 17 – 0.0007 BTC

Could You Have Been a Billionaire?

Cumulatively, this would amount to approximately 226.3 BTC today. At current prices, this equates to nearly $25.2 million. While not a dollar billionaire, your net worth in Turkish Lira would be about 1.039 billion TRY, making you a local billionaire.

These statistics illustrate that by holding BTC, buying each year’s iPhone could become more affordable over time. For instance, purchasing the latest iPhone 17 today costs about 49.4% less in BTC than last year.

Of course, market conditions vary during bear phases, and the true surge in value generally spans across a single year following a typical four-year crypto cycle.
