Ronin Network, originally built to support blockchain games like Axie Infinity, has officially transformed into an Ethereum Layer 2 chain using Optimism’s OP Stack. This move significantly enhances the network’s performance, offering up to 15 times faster transactions and tighter security.

The OP Stack is a modular, open-source framework built by Optimism to help projects launch scalable and secure Layer 2 chains on Ethereum. By adopting this technology, Ronin now benefits from Optimism’s battle-tested infrastructure while maintaining its core focus on Web3 gaming.

As part of this integration, Ronin is set to receive between $5 to $7 million in milestone-based grants from the Optimism Collective. This funding will support the development of gaming infrastructure, user acquisition, and ecosystem expansion.

More importantly, becoming part of the Superchain — a network of interoperable OP Stack-based Layer 2s — connects Ronin with major players like Base, Uniswap, and Optimism itself. This opens the door to smoother asset transfers, shared liquidity, and broader dApp integration.

For users, the most immediate benefits are cheaper gas fees, faster transactions, and improved scalability — all critical for gaming platforms that need high throughput. Developers also gain access to a more robust toolkit and can tap into Ethereum’s security guarantees without sacrificing performance.

By becoming an Ethereum Layer 2, Ronin solidifies its position in the future of Web3 gaming, aligning itself with one of the fastest-growing ecosystems in crypto today.
