The US SEC delays decisions on the Canary Capital HBAR and Grayscale Polkadot ETFs, extending approval deadlines to November 8, 2025.
This delay impacts institutional access and investment strategies, with HBAR and DOT market prices reflecting immediate reactions post-announcement.
The <a href="https://coingape.com/us-sec-delays-decision-on-polkadot-hedera-etfs/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">US Securities and Exchange Commission</a> has decided to extend its decision-making period for <a href="https://coingape.com/us-sec-delays-canary-hbar-and-grayscale-polkadot-etf-heres-why/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Canary Capital's HBAR ETF</a> and <a href="https://coingape.com/us-sec-delays-canary-hbar-and-grayscale-polkadot-etf-heres-why/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Grayscale's Polkadot ETF</a>. This delay pushes the final ruling date to November 8, 2025.
<a href="https://www.sec.gov/files/rules/sro/nasdaq/2025/34-103217.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Canary Capital</a> and <a href="https://www.sec.gov/files/rules/sro/nasdaq/2025/34-103218.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Grayscale</a> are the main entities involved, proposing ETFs for Nasdaq listing. The SEC is gathering more public input before deciding, indicating further scrutiny in their approval process.
While this decision affects institutional investment opportunities, the immediate price reaction was minor. HBAR saw an increase, indicating positive sentiment despite regulatory delays.
Long-term implications could reshape cryptocurrency market dynamics, particularly for Layer 1 networks like Hedera and Polkadot. Existing trends in BTC and ETH ETFs offer a precedent for understanding these potential market impacts.
The SEC has called for more public feedback, highlighting ongoing concerns about market manipulation. This reflects historical patterns observed with BTC and ETH ETF applications, showing a cautious approach.
Should the ETFs be approved, significant institutional investment flows may follow, similar to previous BTC and ETH approval cases. Analysts like James Seyffart predict potential approval by Q4 2025.
<blockquote>
 "Approval odds remain high, but not until final deadline; SEC likely targeting Q4 for a decision." — James Seyffart, ETF Analyst, Bloomberg
