PiFest 2025 Wraps Up

Perhaps the most significant story of this Pi news roundup is the conclusion of PiFest 2025. The shopping period for this global event ended on March 21, following its launch on Pi Day 2025. The Pi Network protocol highlighted it as a chance for Pioneer shoppers and local merchants worldwide to transact using Pi, putting the cryptocurrency’s utility to the test.

“During PiFest, all members of the Pi Network community can participate by shopping with Pi, engaging with local businesses, and sharing their experiences on Fireside Forum and social media,” Pi Blog reads, highlighting the event’s purpose for Pioneers in the industry.

While a detailed recap is still pending, early posts suggest PiFest was a hit. Merchants and shoppers participated, showcasing Pi’s potential as a medium of exchange. The event stands out in March’s Pi news cycle, reinforcing the narrative that Pi is more than a digital token but a tool for ecommerce.
.pi Domains Auction Debuts

Pi Day 2025 celebration saw Pi Network introduce .pi Domains Auction, a new platform-level utility generating excitement. Pioneers can now bid on domain names ending in “.pi” using their Pi holdings. The innovation is a way to turn collective resources into network-wide benefits.

.pi domain auction offers a creative use case for its native asset. The auction could pave the way for businesses and individuals to establish a digital presence tied to the Pi ecosystem, enhancing its appeal. As the feature gains traction, it’s likely to remain a hot topic in future Pi news roundups.

Security Update: 2FA Rolls Out

Security is also a key update in this Pi news roundup, with the introduction of two-factor authentication (2FA) for wallet confirmation. Some Pioneers must verify their identity via email before migrating Pi to the Mainnet blockchain.

Released on March 13, this step aims to protect users as the network scales post-Open Network launch, while also key to mainnet migration. As with every update directly related to PI migration, the news has sparked reactions among Pioneers, many of whom see it as a sign of the Pi Network protocol’s focus on building a secure ecosystem. In any case, the 2FA rollout underscores the balance between growth and stability—a critical theme as Pi expands its reach.

The Bigger Picture

The Open Network launch in February has opened new doors for more developments. PiFest demonstrates real-world utility, the .pi Domains Auction adds innovation, and 2FA strengthens trust.
