From March 13-19, <a href="https://cryptotale.org/metaplanet-partners-with-sbi-group-to-boost-bitcoin-holdings/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a> saw 115,100 whale transactions involving over $100,000, but this number plummeted to 60,200 transactions between August 21-27. Similarly, <a href="https://cryptotale.org/is-ethereum-set-for-a-rebound-key-levels-to-watch/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum&#39;s</a> whale transactions fell from 115,100 during the same March period to just 31,800 in late August. These statistics underscore a shift in whale behavior, but it&#39;s crucial to understand what this might mean for the market.</p><h2 id="header-0">Activity Not Always Indicative of Direction</h2><p>The decline in overall whale activity does not necessarily signal a bearish trend. Historically, top addresses become most active during periods of high volatility, suggesting that the current reduced activity might be part of a broader strategic approach. Despite the lower number of transactions, data from Santiment indicates that whales are still accumulating Bitcoin and Ethereum, even if their activity is less visible in transaction counts.</p><p></p><p>On the other hand, for XRP, the whale activity demonstrated a steady decline from its peak around June, stabilizing at just above 1,000 transactions by September 2. Cardano also experienced a marked decrease in large transactions, settling at 1,867 by September 2. Meanwhile, Toncoin’s whale transactions remained consistently low, with minimal fluctuations.</p><h2 id="header-1">September&#39;s Historical Impact</h2><p>September is often viewed as a challenging month for Bitcoin, earning the moniker “Rektember” due to its historically poor performance. However, recent whale activity suggests that this pattern could face disruption.
