It has a market cap of over $1,268,023,547,204. <a href="https://coinpedia.org/price-prediction/market-price-prediction-ethereum-2019/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ethereum</a>, though is the second highest in the list of the top cryptos, with a market cap of $332,144,936,958, is far behind Bitcoin in terms of market cap. As of today, Bitcoin has a massive market dominance of 51.17%. At the same time, Ethereum’s market presence is just 13.62%. </p> 
<p>Can Bitcoin maintain this dominance in the crypto industry forever? Not many think so. </p> 
<p>Nick Tomaino, the founder of 1confirmation, is the prominent voice among them. In a recent X post, he made some bold statements about the possibility of another crypto to take Bitcoin’s position. Here is what we know about the statement.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-ethereum-s-path-to-the-top">Ethereum’s Path to the Top </h2> 
<p>In a recent X post, Tomaino made headlines by suggesting that Ethereum might soon surpass Bitcoin. Rather than diminishing Bitcoin’s significance, Tomaino highlighted Ethereum’s growing importance and adoption, noting its strong backing from top developers in the Web3 space. He even went so far as to dub Ethereum as “digital oil,” a nod to its expanding role in the crypto ecosystem.</p>

<p>Despite Bitcoin’s commanding position, it’s not immune to fluctuations. Over the past three months, Bitcoin’s dominance has briefly dipped below 50% on several occasions. Meanwhile, Ethereum’s dominance, though currently at 13.62%, has seen spikes up to 17% in recent months, notably in late May, June, early July, and early August.</p>

<p>Other major cryptocurrencies remain relatively small players compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum. USDT, BNB, SOL, and XRP—among the top five—have market dominances of 4.99%, 3.59%, 5.87%, and 1.43%, respectively.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-road-ahead-will-ethereum-overtake-bitcoin">The Road Ahead: Will Ethereum Overtake Bitcoin?</h2> 
<p>Tomaino’s prediction about Ethereum possibly overtaking Bitcoin isn’t far-fetched. Ethereum has shown strong growth and enjoys substantial support from Web3 developers. While it’s difficult to pinpoint when this shift might happen, Bitcoin’s dominance remains significant, but the evolving crypto landscape makes the future exciting.</p>
