The disclosure was made in the 13F disclosure of the first quarter. According to Fintel data, Morgan Stanley’s investment puts it among the biggest holders of GBTC and is just behind Susquehanna International Group, which has a $1.0 billion investment.
Morgan Stanley is also one of many Global Systemically Important Banks (G-SIBs) that have disclosed investments in spot Bitcoin ETFs. The growing list now includes the Royal Bank of Canada, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, BNP Paribas, and UBS.
The announcement appears to have helped the Bitcoin price recovery. From a weekly low of $60,500, BTC has skyrocketed by 10% to recover the $66,000 support level. With the growing involvement of institutions in BTC, analysts have forecasted that Bitcoin is a top cryptocurrency to buy, as it could peak above $100,000 in 2024.
