EigenLayer, an Ethereum restaking project, has released a roadmap for its mainnet launch.
Eigen Labs emphasized a launch strategy focused on security and performance in a recent <a href="https://www.blog.eigenlayer.xyz/eigenlayer-mainnet-preparation-for-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">blog post</a>, adopting a phased approach over the coming weeks.
The project, which attracted a $100 million investment from venture capital firm <a href="https://crypto.news/tag/a16z/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Andreessen Horowitz</a>, saw its assets exceed $10 billion earlier this month. EigenLayer enables the re-staking of ether stakes and the securing of third-party protocols with these funds.

The mainnet preparation includes a final testnet phase on Ethereum’s Holesky testnet, which will transition from the Goerli testnet due to the latter’s lack of support from Ethereum (<a href="https://crypto.news/price/ethereum/" data-type="link" data-id="https://crypto.news/price/ethereum/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ETH</a>) client teams.
Over 6,000 operators participated in a stage 2 testnet on Goerli. As EigenLayer advances toward its mainnet, the web app and contracts will be temporarily suspended to ensure a controlled deployment and smooth operator onboarding.
Following this pause, operators will gradually be allowed to register on the mainnet. Approximately a year prior, Eigen Labs secured $50 million in series A funding, led by Blockchain Capital and with contributions from Coinbase Ventures and Polychain Capital, among others.
