<p>The Solana blockchain, renowned for its speed and scalability, experienced an unexpected stop in block production. According to <a href="https://cryptobriefing.com/solana-block-production-halts-validators-confirm-major-outage/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">information</a> provided by validators and the official network status site, the incident began around 10:22 UTC. The unusual absence of blocks for 25 minutes, for a network aiming for block times of 400 milliseconds, caused commotion.</p>
<p>“<em>The Solana Mainnet-Beta is experiencing performance degradation, block progression is currently halted. Engineers and validators are actively investigating</em>“, stated Solana Laine, one of the validators.</p>
<p>This episode is the latest in a series of malfunctions that have struck Solana since 2022, highlighting the network’s ongoing challenges in terms of stability.</p>
<h2 id="h-root-causes-still-unclear">Root causes still unclear</h2>
<p>Solana’s engineers mobilized urgently to diagnose the origin of the outage and to explore solutions. However, at the time of writing this article, recovery without a coordinated restart among validators remains uncertain. The latest updates indicate that corrective measures are under development and will soon be tested before deployment.</p>
<p>Solana Laine confirmed that engineers were working on a corrected version of the system, which will undergo rigorous testing before being put into production. Meanwhile, validators are preparing snapshots of the local ledger states, in the event of a possible network restart.</p>
