In a surprising turn of events, the multiplayer monster-collecting game Palworld has achieved a remarkable milestone on Steam, surpassing the player count of the highly acclaimed Elden Ring. Despite also being available on Microsoft’s PC Game Pass, Palworld has risen to the top of the Steam charts, dominating the platform with its unique blend of survival crafting and Pokémon-style gameplay. With over one million concurrent players on Steam, Palworld has managed to outshine FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, which fell just short of this milestone with a peak player count of 953,426. This remarkable achievement has left the gaming community in awe, and it raises the question of how much higher Palworld can climb in terms of popularity.

Palworld has taken the gaming world by storm, not only dominating the Steam charts but also garnering significant attention on platforms like Twitch and YouTube. Developer Pocketpair celebrated the incredible achievement of reaching one million concurrent players on Steam through a post on social media. This feat is particularly notable as it surpasses the record previously held by Elden Ring and puts Palworld on the cusp of surpassing the lifetime peak of 1,054,388 players achieved by Cyberpunk 2077. With the game still gaining momentum, there is potential for Palworld to become the highest peak ever attained by a paid-for game on Steam, surpassing even free-to-play giants like Dota 2, Lost Ark, Counter-Strike 2, and PUBG Battlegrounds.

Palworld’s success extends beyond just player count, as it also leads the Steam top sellers chart by revenue. This achievement places it ahead of Valve’s own Steam Deck in both global and United States rankings. Additionally, Palworld surpasses notable titles such as CS2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and EA Sports FC 24 in terms of revenue. The game’s popularity, even while available on Game Pass, is a testament to its widespread appeal and engaging gameplay.

As of Sunday, January 21, Palworld has officially surpassed Cyberpunk 2077’s record with a peak player count of 1,183,921 concurrent users. This remarkable achievement solidifies Palworld’s position as the most-played paid-for game ever on Steam by concurrent users. The game’s meteoric rise caught the attention of many, leading to an emergency meeting between Palworld and Epic Games to address multiplayer connectivity issues. Private Palworld server companies have also struggled to keep up with the high demand for server capacity, reflecting the overwhelming popularity of the game.

Setting up your own Palworld dedicated server

For players looking to enjoy a smoother experience, setting up a dedicated server for Palworld is an option. This allows for greater control and flexibility in managing gameplay and connectivity. However, it’s essential to be cautious while playing Palworld due to a troublesome memory-wiping bug that can hinder progression. This issue is currently being addressed by the developers, but players should exercise vigilance.

Exploring Palworld

Palworld’s vast open-world offers players a wealth of experiences. For those seeking to grow their Palworld adventure, finding Wheat Seeds and learning how to move their base within the game can be essential. These aspects of the game add depth and variety to the gameplay, allowing players to tailor their experience to their preferences.

Palworld’s incredible success on Steam, surpassing the player count of Elden Ring and setting new records, has left the gaming community in awe. With over one million concurrent players and the top spot in the Steam top sellers chart by revenue, Palworld has firmly established itself as a gaming phenomenon. Its ability to maintain its popularity while also being available on Game Pass is a testament to its widespread appeal. As Palworld continues to climb the ranks, it remains to be seen just how high it can soar in the world of gaming.
