Dogecoin founder, Billy Markus has ignited an unexpected debate within the crypto community, prompting members to choose between Ethereum and Solana as the superior cryptocurrency.&nbsp;

American Software Engineer and the founder of Dogecoin, <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/dogecoin-founder-slams-solana-centralized-database/">Billy Markus</a> has found himself at the epicenter of an Ethereum and <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/solanas-2023-prospects-a-look-at-its-potential-competitors-in-the-emerging-cryptocurrency-market/">Solana</a> turf war after publishing a stimulating question about Ethereum and Solana in a recent <a href="https://x.com/billym2k/status/1738791930895765605?s=46" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">X</a> (formerly Twitter) post. “Which is better, Solana or Ethereum? My opinion on which one is better is whichever community tips me more!” Markus said in the post 
In an attempt to engage the community, the DOGE founder attached two separate crypto wallets under his questions. Markus subtly encouraged community members to contribute tokens as a means of demonstrating the superior cryptocurrency.&nbsp; 
In response to the <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/dogecoin-failure-to-launch/">Dogecoin</a> founder’s question, many crypto community members initiated an unexpected rivalry, sending various ETH and SOL tokens to the Dogecoin founder’s designated crypto wallets.&nbsp; 
Within a few hours, Markus had accumulated $10,000 worth of cryptocurrencies. The wallet holding ETH tokens had received an astonishing $8,200 worth of ETH while the Solana wallet had received about $2,000 worth of <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/solana-trust-bitcoin-and-ethereum/">SOL tokens.&nbsp;</a> 
The substantial contrast in ETH donations relative to SOL contributions within the crypto community underscored Ethereum’s value among members. It also provided insight into which cryptocurrency held the distinction of being the superior token to crypto investors.&nbsp; 
Amidst the <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/ethereum-to-10000-programmed/">Ethereum</a> and Solana turf war, many community members also expanded their contribution by donating a variety of other cryptocurrencies such as Kizuna, Monkeyhaircut, Myro, Solana Beach, and more.&nbsp; 
The <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/dogecoin-founder-sec-boss/">Dogecoin founder</a> took the community member’s unique contribution humorously, stating how things were spiraling into chaos due to the influx of tokens other than <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/ethereum-price-ethe-discount-close-eth-to-3500/">ETH</a> and SOL.&nbsp;

As the crypto market appears to be on a bullish trajectory fueled by the excitement surrounding <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/sec-bitcoin-ethereum-etfs-deadline/">Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs</a>, Solana and Ethereum have exhibited commendable performance over the recent months.&nbsp; 
Last month, Ethereum hit above the <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/as-ethereum-closes-in-on-2000-here-are-top-3-altcoins-in-november/">$2,000 mark </a>for the first time since April 2023. The cryptocurrency is currently trading at $2,281.75, and steadily gaining ground as it follows behind <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-as-one-of-the-best-performing-assets-report/">Bitcoin’s upward trajectory.</a> 
Additionally, Solana which is positioned just behind ETH recently <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/solana-outperforms-ethereum-running-nodes-expensive/">outperformed</a> Ethereum in terms of Decentralized Exchanges (<a href="https://bitcoinist.com/dex-volume-in-crypto-november-sees-29-billion-surge/">DEX</a>) and Non-fungible Token (<a href="https://bitcoinist.com/nfts-are-seeing-resurgence-signs-crypto-bull-market/">NFT</a>) volume. The cryptocurrency has been performing relatively well and is currently trading at $113.28, according to CoinMarketCap.&nbsp; 
While the dynamics of the crypto market continue to evolve and improve, many other <a href="https://bitcoinist.com/7-altcoins-that-may-outperform-ethereum-eth-in-december/">altcoins</a> may trace a similar path as these more prominent cryptocurrencies.
