The Solana network recorded the number of new and active addresses in December. 
According to The Block, the number of active Solana network addresses increased by about 50% compared to November. It exceeded 15.6 million, more than the previous 15.2 million in January.

The number of new addresses also set a record of 6.8 million in December, up from the previous record of 6.6 million in May 2023. One metric that has yet to set a record is non-voting transactions, which are still below November levels. 
Last week, <a href="https://crypto.news/price/Solana/">SOL</a> also <a href="https://crypto.news/solana-flips-ripples-xrp-in-market-cap-sol-up-9/">overtook</a> <a href="https://crypto.news/price/xrp/">XRP</a> in ranking cryptocurrencies by capitalization and took fifth place. The asset’s market value exceeded <a href="https://crypto.news/price/bnb/">BNB’s</a>, placing the project in fourth place. At the time of writing, Solana <a href="https://crypto.news/solana-breaks-90-flips-bnb-as-new-altcoin-posts-gains/">is trading</a> at $113. The project capitalization is $48.3 billion. Over the past 24 hours, the trading volume of the SOL token reached $4.9 billion.

Interest in the network is growing amid the rising price of the SOL project token, as well as interest in meme tokens in the Solana network and the excitement around <a href="https://crypto.news/solana-mobile-faces-inventory-challenges-amid-high-demand-for-saga/">Saga phones</a>, whose sales have increased ten times against the background of the <a href="https://crypto.news/saga-mobile-by-solana-sells-out-on-the-heels-of-bonk-token-surging-7-in-24-hour-trading/">airdrop of BONK tokens</a>. On eBay, prices <a href="https://crypto.news/solana-saga-called-by-tech-industry-critic-as-worst-smartphone-of-2023/">reached up</a> to $5,000 for one device.
