The company's Q3 revenue plunged to $17.0 million, a sharp decrease from $31.7 million in the same period last year. The company's foray into high performance computing (HPC) yielded a modest revenue increase to $4.5 million, driven by first-half sales. However, its mining operations faced a stark reduction, mining only 330 Bitcoin compared to 982 in Q3 2022. The impending merger with USBTC, slated to conclude by the month's end, promises a diversified infrastructure-first approach, potentially stabilizing energy markets and expanding revenue streams. The company also actively pursued growth avenues, including a court-approved bid to acquire four natural gas facilities in Ontario, which could offer energy pricing certainty and new revenue opportunities.
Hut 8's Bitcoin inventory stood at 9,366, valued at $341.4 million. The company sold 100 Bitcoin for $3.9 million, contributing to its liquidity. However, the financial overview painted a grim picture, with a net loss of $53.6 million, a significant increase from last year's $23.8 million. The operating and financial strain was evident in reduced mining profits and a negative adjusted EBITDA of $11.6 million, compared to a positive $9.4 million in 2022.
