Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken is currently seeking partnerships with Polygon, Matter Labs, and Nil Foundation in connection to the potential <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2023/11/07/kraken-said-to-seek-partner-to-help-build-it-a-layer-2-blockchain-network/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">launch of its Layer-2 blockchain</a>. 
The plan is to choose one of these blockchain developers for the development of its new undertaking. Notably, Kraken is trailing the blaze after the American crypto exchange Coinbase.
A Kraken spokesperson who refused to share more details of the recent development noted that this is one of the company’s strategies to always identify and solve new industry challenges and opportunities.&nbsp;
<h2 id="b-top-offerings-from-polygon-and-matter-labs-b-span-style-font-weight-400-span">Top Offerings From Polygon And Matter Labs&nbsp;</h2>
On one hand, Polygon is popular for being a leading developer of Ethereum (ETH) scaling solutions. Some of its top protocols are the Polygon PoS network and the Polygon zkEVM, which was released earlier this year with a new software toolkit&nbsp;that facilitates blockchain development for developers.&nbsp;
Matter Labs is the developer behind the L2 network zkSync and is popular for its contribution to enhancing developers’ activities. 
By this time last year, the blockchain developer was already considering the <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/zksync-to-develop-layer-3-chain-called-opportunity/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">implementation of a Layer-3 chain</a> dubbed Opportunity which is targeted towards improving the scalability of the zkSync blockchain infrastructure.
<h2 id="b-coinbase-roll-out-base-b">Coinbase Roll-out Base&nbsp;</h2>
At the beginning of this year, Coinbase launched Base, its L2 protocol which <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/coinbase-incs-base-sees-bridged-asset-cross-100m/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">saw more than $100 million in assets bridged to it </a>within a short period. The network launch triggered an upscale in Coinbase’s market share in the face of revenue stream diversification. Base utilizes OP Stack, from the team behind Optimism.
Last month, Coinbase’s Ethereum-based Layer-2 network hit a significant milestone in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) ecosystem with a 25% TVL surge. Consequently, this increase moved the <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/base-blockchain-by-coinbase-witnesses-25-tvl-surge/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">valuation of Base to $558 million,</a> exceeding <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/zksync-to-develop-layer-3-chain-called-opportunity/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Matter Labs’ zkSync Era</a>, which previously held $435 million.
<h2 id="b-kraken-seeks-a-senior-cryptography-engineer-b-span-style-font-weight-400-span">Kraken Seeks a Senior Cryptography Engineer&nbsp;</h2>
Meanwhile, Kraken is looking to fill a “<a href="https://jobs.lever.co/kraken/d995b941-43d4-41e6-8cc6-f81f2b7045c4" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Senior Cryptography Engineer</a>” opening in its office. The candidate is expected to be armed with “knowledge of modern cryptography (including ZK proofs)” whose opportunities could include “design and implementation of layer-2 solutions,” per the job listing posted a few days ago on its career section.
“We are enthusiastic about open source, layer-2 technologies, zero-knowledge proofs, multi-party computation, and continuously strive to explore the potential of on-chain scaling solutions,” the job description reads. “The team has recently embarked on exploring how more protocols and decentralized applications can be integrated into Kraken.”
