HIVE Digital Technologies, formerly known as HIVE Blockchain, is diving deep into artificial intelligence (AI) to multiply its crypto mining earnings. Frank Holmes, the company's executive chairman, recently spoke to TheStreetCrypto. In the interview, he outlined how AI could skyrocket profits for <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/russias-bitcoin-gold-rush-mining-machine-influx-outpaces-rest-of-the-world/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin miners</a>, according to <a href="https://www.thestreet.com/crypto/innovation/hive-digital-chairman-explains-how-bitcoin-miners-can-10x-profits-by-integrating-ai" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">thestreet</a>.
Holmes highlighted the symbiotic relationship between blockchain technology and AI. He emphasized that HIVE has extensive experience in Ethereum mining, which made it familiar with <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/kaspa-takes-the-lead-in-gpu-mining-sets-sights-on-transforming-pow-landscape/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">GPU</a> and AMD chips. The company even developed custom chips for its operations in cold climates like Sweden and Iceland.
A significant point Holmes made was HIVE's $70 million investment in Nvidia chips about three years ago. While others were using Nvidia solely for Ethereum mining, HIVE took a broader view. They anticipated Ethereum's shift from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake and saw an opportunity to diversify into AI.
According to Holmes, AI integration dramatically increases efficiency and reduces operational costs. HIVE operates at a fraction of the cost compared to giants like AWS, due to its decentralized <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-miners-shift-gears-ai-is-the-new-gold-rush/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">data centers</a>. This efficiency provides HIVE with a unique competitive edge.
But the real eye-opener was the comparison between profits from Bitcoin mining and AI operations. Holmes revealed that if Bitcoin mining on an ASIC chip could make 10 cents an hour, incorporating AI could shoot that number up to 80 cents to $1 an hour.&nbsp;
