Have you ever heard of Cardano? Cardan is a decentralised proof-of-stack blockchain designed to be a more efficient alternative proof-of-work network. Cardano’s cryptocurrency is named ADA, and the origin of that name is quite interesting, but we’ll get to that later.

<h2 id="b-the-origin-of-the-name-ada-b">The Origin of the Name ADA</h2> 
ADA was named after Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace; she is often regarded as the first computer programmer. ADA is being used in the blockchain’s PoS consensus mechanism. It is usually given as a reward for users who participate in a stake pool. 
Cardano was developed by Charles Hoskinson, the co-founder of Ethereum, in 2015. The platform was launched in 2017. Since then, Cardano has been seen as an alternative to Ethereum. Both platforms use smart contracts and have the common goal of building a connected and decentralised system. 
Cardano is often considered an updated version of Ethereum and a “third generation” platform, whereas Ethereum is often considered a second generation. This platform uses the Ouroboros consensus protocol.&nbsp; 
Ouroboros was created by Cardano in its foundation phase, and it is the first proof-of-stake protocol that was designed to reduce how much energy is being spent by proof-of-work mining. This platform can save a lot of energy by eliminating the massive computing resources used by the proof-of-work algorithm. 
<h2 id="b-how-much-does-ada-cost-b">How much does ADA cost?</h2> 
We all know that the market for cryptocurrencies is quite volatile. Because of this reason, the<a href="https://www.kraken.com/prices/cardano"> ADA price</a> chances are pretty high. Cardano’s native cryptocurrency, when it was launched, followed a public sale of 25.9 billion ADA tokens. 5.2 billion were then issued and shared among some separate entities.
