Sys Labs, renowned for its Syscoin blockchain, has introduced a Layer 2 network, Rollux. Offering faster, more affordable transactions, Rollux is a game-changer in the crypto space. Like Syscoin, Rollux is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) for executing smart contracts, according to <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2023/06/28/syscoin-developer-launches-ethereum-compatible-layer-2-network-secured-by-bitcoin-miners/">coindesk</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
The real breakthrough, however, lies in its security. Rollux leverages the process of merged mining, a method introduced by <a href="https://ultramining.com/en/ratings/bitcoin/">Bitcoin</a> inventor Satoshi Nakamoto. This method borrows security from Bitcoin miners. Consequently, Rollux combines the security of Bitcoin with the flexibility of Ethereum. 
Rollux has the capacity to process 700 transactions per second. This massive leap in speed significantly outperforms the three to five transactions per second on the base Syscoin layer. This speed boost, along with decreased transaction costs, makes Rollux a potent solution to Ethereum's congestion problems. 
Rollux has been eight years in the making, according to Jagdeep Sidhu, Sys Labs CEO. He emphasized that merged mining opens the doors to scaling into a rollup network. Furthermore, Sidhu revealed that an agreement has been reached to store data on Filecoin via Lighthouse Storage. This integration further emphasizes Sys Labs' commitment to creating secure and efficient solutions in blockchain technology.
