A built-in Ethereum crypto wallet for Microsoft's Edge browser is apparently being developed, allowing users to transfer and receive cryptocurrencies and NFTs without the usage of extra addons. The wallet is a non-custodial option that currently offers customers total control over their money and is in a restricted testing phase.The Edge browser's experimental feature, according to a report by BleepingComputer, was found by anonymous software documenter "Albacore."Public keys in The Edge Crypto Wallet enable accepting payments, but users should guard their private keys, which are required to authorize transactions. The wallet's development seems to be in its early stages, and only users of Microsoft Edge Dev Channel have access.Microsoft emphasizes that during the onboarding process, it won't have access to users' passwords or recovery keys. To secure and restore their crypto wallet, testers need to create a password and a 12-word recovery phrase. The wallet creates an Ethereum address for receiving funds once onboarding is complete.Several Ethereum accounts are supported by The Edge Crypto Wallet. Users can also access a crypto news section and connect to decentralized apps (dApps). Microsoft provides a built-in cryptocurrency swap feature between $ETH, $DAI, $UNI, $USDC, and $USDT through a cooperation with Consensys.Evidently, there are some hints that Bitcoin wallet support could be added in the future.A Microsoft spokeswoman yesterday offered the following comment in response to BleepingComputer's request for more information regarding this feature: "At Microsoft, we regularly test new features to explore new experiences for our users. We have nothing else to add at this time but look forward to hearing from customers and learning from their feedback.
