Technology has been making breakthroughs over the past decade at an unprecedented rate, and more is still to come. Blockchain is one of these breakthroughs reinforced by advanced technology supporting countless projects today.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*b61VRXqw00Rn7lT6LGX6Jw.jpeg" />Distributed ledger technology has been advancing at lightning speed and has applications in countless fields, from finance and law to art. Unfortunately, many individuals viewed cryptocurrency as nothing else but a scam a few years back. Those days are gone; despite its volatility, cryptocurrency is now seen as a promising technology that might lead the future. As a result, Crypto has become a profitable investment for companies, institutions, and individuals.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*eQWs4YOmFurmrt882lTbPg.jpeg" />We believe that this rapid expansion of the blockchain world creates a large gap between the products of this technology and their applications.Our sociological survey details the “Prospects for the daily use of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency” in higher education institutions. These institutions are as follows:1- Univerzita Karlova (Prague)2- École Polytechnique (Paris)3- Moscow State University (Moscow)4- University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan)5- Politecnico di Milano (Milan)6- Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Tbilisi)<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*obrFWp7i6fRaJpPQw1V1Zw.jpeg" />We conducted a series of six questions to a total number of 984 participants. Our first being whether users have heard about blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. Out of 984 replies, 982 had replied with “yes” that they’d heard about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, and 2 users had responded with “no” that they had not heard about it.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*FYtfPxiuXBdwgikpZrZaGA.jpeg" />Secondly, we asked participants whether they had any experience with short-term investments (up to a year) in tokens or cryptocurrency. A total of 918 participants replied with “yes” that they had experience with short-term investments, while 64 had responded with an answer of “no.”<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*S-Ms1N6NQS7zJcKTW4gqzQ.jpeg" />Thirdly, we asked participants if they had any experience with long-term investments (one year or more) in blockchain technology products. A total of 909 individuals had replied with “yes” that they have had experience with long-term investments, and 72 had responded with an answer of “no.”Cryptocurrency UseFourthly, we asked participants if they had used cryptocurrency as a means of payment, to which 961 individuals had responded with “yes,” and 21 individuals had responded with “no.”Approach Towards CryptocurrencyFifthly, we asked participants about their attitudes toward cryptocurrency, and we received mixed replies. A total of 267 participants did see the prospects of using cryptocurrency in everyday life. In contrast, the remaining 715 participants did not see the possibilities of using cryptocurrency in everyday life.Finally, we asked participants whether they had a negative attitude towards cryptocurrency. A total of 186 participants claimed that cryptocurrency is a modern “bubble.” Another 441 participants claimed that cryptocurrency is inconvenient in domestic circulation, while 88 individuals had other reasons.Sociological Survey ResultsBased on the survey we conducted, we can conclude that no matter how fast the blockchain industry develops, many individuals are still not convinced of what benefits cryptocurrency might bring. The current financial system is not advanced compared to what blockchain technology can offer. Today’s system of interbank transfers can take up to 24 hours or more for funds to arrive in people’s accounts.The current system is inhumane and based on centralization instead of blockchain technology that is fast, reliable, and fully decentralized. Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto was the first to introduce all of humanity to decentralized technology, trust, and harmony in currency by creating the first cryptocurrency known as Bitcoin. Nakamoto was able to bring advancement to the monetary system by laying the basis for improving not only the economy as a whole but also other spheres of social life.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*RVsqHEL4Edaj27nWXiTdLw.jpeg" />Trust is what the <a href="https://weicrypto.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">WEIcrypto</a> project is built on and unites us with our users.
