Tokenized stocks have reached an important milestone, with their combined market capitalization climbing to $4.63 billion, according to Token Terminal.
The figure has attracted attention because it matches the approximate size of the stablecoin market in March 2020.
Since then, stablecoins have expanded dramatically, reaching approximately $297 billion, representing roughly 64 times growth.
The comparison has raised an interesting question: Could tokenized stocks experience a similar expansion?
The growing tokenized stocks market cap reflects increasing interest in bringing traditional financial assets onto blockchain networks.
Tokenized stocks are blockchain-based representations of shares in publicly traded companies.
Depending on their structure, these tokens may provide economic exposure to stock prices, although they do not always offer the same ownership rights as traditional shares.
Their appeal comes from the possibility of combining familiar financial assets with blockchain-based trading and settlement infrastructure.
However, the current market remains relatively small compared with the broader global equity market.

The comparison between the tokenized stocks market cap and the stablecoin market in 2020 highlights how quickly blockchain-based financial products can develop.
Stablecoins initially served a relatively narrow role in cryptocurrency trading.
Over time, their use expanded into payments, decentralized finance, international transfers and other financial applications.
That broader adoption helped support substantial growth in circulating supply.
Tokenized stocks could potentially follow a different but equally important path.
Blockchain infrastructure may allow investors to transfer tokenized equity exposure more efficiently and access certain markets beyond traditional trading hours.
It could also support faster settlement and new financial products built around tokenized assets.
However, tokenized stocks face challenges that differ from those of stablecoins.
These include securities regulations, investor protections, liquidity and the legal rights attached to each token.
A token representing exposure to a company’s stock is not necessarily equivalent to holding that company’s shares directly.
Such differences could influence how quickly institutional investors and retail traders adopt these products.

<h2 id="could-tokenized-stocks-follow-stablecoins-64x-growth">Could Tokenized Stocks Follow Stablecoins’ 64x Growth?</h2>
The rise in tokenized stocks market cap has created optimism about the future of real-world asset tokenization.
If the sector eventually experienced growth comparable to stablecoins’ historical expansion, its market capitalization could approach $297 billion.
However, this is a mathematical comparison, not a market forecast.
There is no guarantee that tokenized stocks will follow the same adoption curve or reach a similar valuation.
Stablecoins and tokenized equities serve different purposes and operate under different regulatory requirements.
Future growth will likely depend on clearer rules, stronger market liquidity and greater participation from established financial institutions.
The development of reliable custody, settlement and trading infrastructure will also be important.
For now, the $4.63 billion milestone shows that tokenized stocks are becoming a more visible part of blockchain finance.
Whether the sector can repeat stablecoins’ remarkable expansion remains uncertain, but its growing market size suggests that interest in tokenizing traditional assets is continuing to bu
